Nurse Quarantined By Christie Comes Back To Haunt Him On Vaccines

Kaci Hickox, a nurse who was quarantined by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) after she returned from treating Ebola patients in West Africa, slammed the governor's recent remarks on vaccinations.

Christie on Monday said that parents should have "some measure of choice" when it comes to vaccinating their kids after he was asked about the current measles outbreak in the U.S. His office later clarified that the governor thinks there is "no question" children should be vaccinated for measles.

"I think this is a good example of Gov. Christie making some very ill-informed statements. We heard it a lot during the Ebola discussion, and now it seems to have happened again," Hickox said on MSNBC's "All In With Chris Hayes." "I think the unfortunate thing — or the scary thing — is that I want a leader who consults experts and thinks about all of the different sides to an issue before making statements and policies that are unfounded in science.”

Hickox said Christie is "going against science."

I hate that big oaf.

Big article about him today in the NYTimes all about his "love of luxury."

He's having a blast on the taxpayer's dime.

The governor, a Republican now preparing a run for president, shot to national prominence as a cheese-steak-on-the-boardwalk Everyman who bluntly preached transparency and austerity as the antidote to bloated state budgets. But throughout his career in public service, Mr. Christie has indulged a taste that runs more toward Champagne at the Four Seasons.

He has also quietly let others pay the bills.

That tendency — the governor himself says he wants to “squeeze all the juice out of the orange” — has put him in ethically questionable situations, taking benefits from those who stand to benefit from him.

Now Christie's bloviating about parent's freedom not to vaccinate, but he sure didn't care about freedom when he forcibly quarantined Hickox for political gain. Another example of the Republican Party's boundless hypocrisy.

must be to be a nurse and be able to get the word out about vaccines, just because you were quarantined by a GOP politician.

Back during the Anthrax scare, a lot of nurses, and doctors, were refusing CIPRO injections also. Why?

when she speaks out against Christie's pronouncements.
I hope she will be available when he runs for whatever he has in mind as his next office. (That presidential thing is not going to work out for him.)
