BREAKING: Coach Dean Smith, retired coach of the UNC BB team, has passed.

@ZacEllis:
Sad news per @UNC_Basketball: Former head coach Dean Smith has passed away at age 83. http://t.co/oGqdS0sbKO

Here is an article about what he did:

A salute to a true warrior. He stood up for equality when few did. He was much more than a basketball coach.
RIP Coach Smith....
You fought the good fight.

That said, I had nothing but great respect for Coach Smith.

He had Alzheimer's so in one way this is a blessing.
Sad at the same time.
