Va. pastor arrested after falsely telling police he was shot by a black man

When Pastor George Hunley was hospitalized with two gunshot wounds this week, the Virginia man had a simple explanation for police: some black guy he tried to help shot him. But on Friday, it was Hunley who ended up in jail thanks to his stupid, self-aggrandizing story.

According to Hunley, he pulled over to help a black man and white woman on the side of the road when the man suddenly stole his wallet and shot him. During the supposed struggle that followed, the 54-year-old pastor claimed he broke his attacker's arm.

Initially hailed as a Good Samaritan by the local news, Hunley refused to take a polygraph test and police began to question his account.

... On Friday, police arrested Hunley for falsely reporting a crime, telling WRIC, "Everything right now points to us believing that there was no armed robbery, there was no bi-racial couple, that all of that didn't happen."

This is one of the, sadly, most remarkable things I have learned on DU over the years.

Susan Smith's stepfather started molesting her soon after marrying her mother. Susan was 13 I think. It continued even after she was an adult and married. He (weird) basically dumped her one or two weeks before she drown her children. GOD! He was the county chair of the - Republican - Christian Coalition.

Not meant as an excuse just the rest of the story. No one is sure if the children were his but I would think that is possible.

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — A pastor and his wife were left homeless Thursday after a fire tore through their home, leaving nothing behind but ashes.

The roar of the fire rocked Pastor George Hunley’s world, right down to the charred foundation. “I’m thankful to God that everyone is OK,” he said. “People can’t be replaced.”

The pastor and his wife say they’re a couple of years from having an empty nest. They never imagined they’d have to build a new one, because of a mishap with a turkey fryer.
