1. It's facism with a velvet glove

We are lulled into complacency by an over abundance of media distractions. Then those of us who can avoid or resist the distraction have our mental skills constrained by limiting our range of thought.
Those of us who fight through the challenges are labeled as "conspiracy theorists" who see dark actors around every corner.

2. We are getting there. I saw an interesting story about the Super Bowl recently and how

if you watch it, there are so many symbols of empire and militarism, such as gigantic flags and military rituals, and of course the national pledge of allegiance.

I think Major Sports are definitely linked with the nationalism fervor in the United States.
