I gave 20.00, wish I could give more. So according to the chart, I think I have 20 hearts to give. Is there a way to give a heart to the community as a whole. Over these past 8.5 years, (I lurked for a bit before joining) I have so enjoyed the discussions, news bits and humor. This is the only online community I am a part of and I really appreciate it. Wish I could some how show my appreciation for all of you in this community-Mike

(68,644 posts)If I might suggest an alternative, posting alerts on other sites or boards directing traffic back here might be a positive way to express your sentiments.
Also, you can give hearts to Skinner, but I think EarlG really gets lost in the mix-- I don't give them to Skinner but I have given hearts to Elad and EarlG.
Sorry Skinner!

Don't let Skittle's calm demeanor fool you... hidden beneath that exterior is some serious fucking brilliance!

(23,765 posts)but I was hoping there was a way other that, that we could express appreciation...this is the only site I look at everyday (except the few times I haven't had a computer with me or was in the hospital)

(153,186 posts)you just did!
not a football follower; who would like my name? Skittles was a huge solid black cat of mine who ironically passed away on my 5th DU anniversary........I also proudly consider my DU name a tribute to Trayvon Martin.

(40,416 posts)I do the same, in spite of those who seem to want this place to suck. I just try to be pleasant to those who like to stir the pot.
DU is my online home and my first GoTo in in morning as well as my political and general newswire.
The baddies have driven off many dear people -- wonderful folks like Nadine and so many others. I refuse to knuckle under to the bullying that goes on here.
Sorry for the rant, my friend. But I feel strongly that our community here is only as strong as well reasoned opinions are welcome.
That is why I never take personal offense when somebody disagrees with me. If only the whole of DU would take a similar tact.

(51,308 posts)checking out the chronic disease forum if you have hearts to give.
Great idea!
Or just look for those without. Hint, check
posting history first lol! Sometimes there's a good reason for no hearts...

(23,765 posts)as one who has had encephalitis as a baby and cancer as an adult, I can sure empathize with those fighting chronic illness and all the medical debt and limitations it brings on.

(10,893 posts)to give, I'd give them to people who either don't have any or not that much, just so they'd feel appreciated and it won't be like some sort of popularity contest.
