It might also be an issue between Comedy Central or their owners and Stewart's production company. It will all come out soon enough.
The question is whether or not Stewart has enough reputation to make it in more of a syndicated market.

Channel online or through Dish and Direct, that has incredible talker genius Thom Hartmann's daily program, Amy Goodman with the Democracy Now! program, Mike Papantonio's 'Ring of Fire' and documentaries.
And some of MSNBC, Ed Schultz, Rachel, MHP. But no savy satirists in the group.
LEE CAMP is a cool, younger guy who does comedy and politics; and TYT-The Young Turks, with Cenk Ugher. That's all I know...

Colbert was the more 'radical' of the two, mainly because of his performance at that industry function where he distinctly made some powerful people uncomfortable. I forget what it was, but I thought that was pretty rad.

stewart, otoh, always seemed safely 'liberal' to me.

Although huge personalities and celebrities, the content of those shows was credited to the writers. With huge writing staffs, they consistently won Emmy's always credited to the writers. Jon and Stephen were incredible comics and will willingly credit their success to the writers, who have also spawned the careers of many who have graced the shows.
