Brian Williams Falls in Rankings of Most Trustworthy Celebrities

Consumer perception of news anchor Brian Williams has plummeted in the wake of the “NBC Nightly News” host’s admission that a war story he had told for years was false.

Once the 23rd most trusted celebrity in the country, Mr. Williams has dropped to No. 835, according to The Marketing Arm, a unit of Omnicom Group OMC -0.82% that tracks celebrity perception through online polls of consumers.

Before his fall on the trust scale, Mr. Williams enjoyed a trustworthiness level greater than some of his newscaster contemporaries: Matt Lauer ranks at No. 751; Anderson Cooper, No. 304; Katie Couric, No. 359; and Diane Sawyer, No. 205. Consumers now find Mr. Williams less trustworthy than all of those journalists, according to The Marketing Arm

1. it's funny that they're all actors

the actors all go on the late night shows and tell stories to entertain the audience. it would not be a scandal if one of those stories turned out to be made up. I just think there are different standards for journalists, but is that really what Brian Williams is anyway? Do people think that the information they're getting from his mouth really depends on his personal credibility?
