I will vote for that Democrat that the evidence suggests has the best chance of beating the Republican in 2016.
If that makes DemocratSinceBirth a corporate shill, a Turd Wayer, a warmonger, or whatever he wears those epithets like a badge of honor.

(81,883 posts)We don't really have any announced candidates other than Webb. We'll see how things shake out.
But most Democrats and DUers will vote for the Democratic nominee with a smile on their face. Those that don't aren't really Democrats/Progressives anyway. They are the same people that brought about Bush 2 because they thought it would be cute to vote for Nader.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,716 posts)I wouldn't be adverse to Jim Webb's candidacy and should he get the nomination I would, of course, support him.

I'm sure being blamed for the Bush debacle is a total turn-on for lefties to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is.

(20,317 posts)Voting for Hillary wouldn't be a compromise for you, so pretending otherwise is silly. She's the candidate you want, and that's fine-- but please, stop acting like you're just being pragmatic. The primary season hasn't even begun, for crying out loud.

(65,616 posts)It's what he says he wants and we should oblige him. Maybe when someone declares? You expect people to actually care about such small things?
Good luck with that.

(20,317 posts)The same people will say Sanders (should he run as a Dem) would be unelectable because he's too far to the left. They're openly saying that their own 'centrist' brethren won't hold their noses and vote for the Democrat if the tables are turned, while castigating anyone who won't take a loyalty oath to Hillary Clinton.

(65,616 posts)and go home...or you can give them both and hang around and play until they get bored and leave. Their incredible childishness about the entire thing is why I won't take a single one of them seriously. An adult takes all of a few minutes to realize their silly attempt at pretending they can have our cake and their cake and eat both in front of us. While scolding us of course for having low moral.
I am amazed anyone takes them seriously, but this is the internet.

(99,716 posts)Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong but i believe she's best positioned to beat the Republicans and that is what is subconsciously making me gravitate to her candidacy.
We can go back to my Democratic primary choices since 1980 and I voted for that Democrat I believed had the best chance of beating the Republican.

Yea, you will be voting for more republican policies. I however will not be voting for republicans, whatever they call themselves

(99,716 posts)If John McCain was elected president there would be no Affordable care Act, no Medicaid expansion, and I would be walking around with a broken elbow and uncontrolled hypertension. My dad died of a heart attack at the ripe old age of fifty eight. He hadn't seen a doctor in twenty years.
Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
AFDC
Universal Health Insurance
Without Democratic presidents these programs, some of them lifesaving, wouldn't exist.
Enfranchisement of women
Enfranchisement of people of color
Marriage equality
Without Democratic presidents these people would still be waiting on their rights.
So while you dream about a revolution that will never happen I will continue to do what little I can to help "those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped."

DemocratSinceBirth
(99,716 posts)That being said I suspect the chances of Rick Perry returning to the party he originally chose (Democrats) is about the same as the chances of Elizabeth Warren returning to the party she originally chose (Republicans) and that is essentially zero.
Thought you cornered ole DemocratSinceBirth there, did ya?

How about Elizabeth Warren? Why not start supporting her now?
Sherrod Brown?
Martin O'Malley?
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,716 posts)Oh, and can you please cite the votes Brown, Warren, and O'Malley* have made that Hillary Clinton wouldn't have made?
And then I would need to see actual evidence that they can mount a national campaign.
Thank you in advance.

(99,716 posts)That being said if Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Martin O'Malley announce then at least we would have actual data to see whether or not they can defeat the Republican which I stated is my raison d'etre in my seminal post, ergo:
"I will vote for that Democrat that the evidence suggests has the best chance of beating the Republican in 2016. "
To me defeating the Republican is paramount, everything else is commentary.

(9,033 posts)"Winning" is the important thing. So for many of us, what will we win? And for many of us, with Hillary we will win more wars, more trade deals, more sucking up to the 1%.
DemocratSinceBirth

(19,240 posts)extremely excited over our candidates and call all the other candidates "poo-heads" and similar names until Phillie when we all magically come together. If we don't get excited, then our base stays home in the fall. So, we need to make it a really good food fight. Meaning that all the Hillary-bashers should continue their bashing. Seriously. Yes, I know I complain about the bashing. It is part of the Democratic primary process, you bashing and me complaining about the bashing.
The worst thing of all would be if no one gave a damn. Eeks! That would mean a certain GOP victory.

(19,240 posts)I mention this because Obama has pretty much done exactly what he said he would do, and it has angered a lot of his supporters who seemed to be under the impression that he was only saying all that stuff to get elected.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,716 posts)I believe a lot of folks on this site are angry at him for not doing things he never said he would do like ending capitalism and refusing to use military force in any conceivable situation.
The only folks who believed that beside some of the denizens on this site were the Tea Baggers who labeled him as a "Kenyan, anti-imperialist, socialist."

(14,524 posts)Seriously?
No mam, Barack Obama HASN'T "done exactly what he said he would do" in a number of instances. As a matter of fact, his FAILURE at doing so, is the precise reason Hillary Goldman Sachs MIC Clinton will never receive the support of actual progressives.
Just how stupid do you think we are?
