By Tim Mak & Jackie KucinichJeb Bungles Facts, Pronunciation in His Big National Security Speech
Trying to sound presidential, Bush instead came off like a confused former governor.
Likely presidential candidate Jeb Bush delivered a nervous, uncertain speech on national security Wednesday, full of errors and confusion.
Seeking to differentiate himself from his father and brother, both former presidents, the former governor of Florida asserted, I am my own man.
But the man who emerged on stage at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs did not sound well-versed in foreign policy.
Bushs clunky, rushed delivery paled in comparison to the hazy facts in the speech and vague answers he gave during a Q&A session following his remarks.
Speaking of the extremist group based in Nigeria that has killed thousands of civilians, Bush referred to Boko Haram as Beau-coup Haram. Bush also referred to Iraq when he meant to refer to Iran.
Further, Bush misrepresented the strength of ISIS, saying it has some 200,000 men, which is far greater than the U.S. intelligence communitys estimates. Last week National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen pegged the fighting strength of ISIS at between 20,000 and 31,500.
Governor Bush misspoke, Bush aide Kristy Campbell told The Daily Beast after the speech. He meant 20,000. Referring to the leader of the so-called Islamic State, Bush referred to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as the guy thats the supreme leader or whatever his new title ishead of the caliphate.

(86,635 posts)Seems he has the same choir singing in his ear and he can't make the intellectual connection that links reality and what he was told to say because there is no link to the two with the exception of the fact that the siren song has become our reality.
What was that quote about doing the same thing again and again but expecting different outcomes?
This is obviously a continuation of that New World Order cabal. I truly hope those who vote have learned the lesson.

(82,849 posts)It won't hurt Jeb to be stupid, either. As long as there are minions to run out afterwards and say that "Mr. Bush misspoke," the Bushes aren't held to any standards for accuracy or articulateness. The popular media will paint him as an "Aw shucks" kind of guy you want to have a beer with, as opposed to that harpy running on the other party's ticket. We'll be assured that despite whatever stupid thing fell out of Jeb's mouth, "everybody knows" what he really meant to say, and besides, he'll have a coterie of advisors - the wisest men on the planet - to make sure he always operates in the bestest interests of all the United States.*

(86,635 posts)Yes. And there is a telling photo from election night that I think needs to be revived. I think it was in the first Newsweek hardcopy ed. following election night... was taken on election night of the B Fam through a window in the Den, they were all there in the picture. I'll have to look around for that one, it's priceless.
It is blatantly clear at this moment what we would get should the nextgenBush end up pulling off another stolen election, and if that happens, I think it may well be the last election we see. I wonder how he's really going to do in the primaries. Lots of folks from outside the beltway and Texas have been harmed by the last two Bushes whether they see them or not. I hope the voters nip this wannabe emperor in the bud.

(46,416 posts)prepping to run for President, but even I know how Boko Haram is pronounced, and who al-Baghdadi is. Jeb Bush had nothing but free time to learn this shit. Just reading the NEWS for the last six months would have informed the average person. Very weird.
