bill?
Well I will never forget them, why?
They said this, I cant quote it but I know they said the following:
"Dear Senator Coburn, we are Texas republicans and we support you in the fight, but please vote yes on this bill"
OK, now as i recall they didnt clarify that statement but what they OBVIOUSLY meant was they support Coburn, who is notorious for cutting social programs, demanding balanced budgets, etc. in his fight PREVENTING people from getting healthcare and food stamps and welfare and disability
But
BUT
Now WE want something from the government so we want you to make this ONE exception.
Look, of course I agree with what they wanted funding for, but the arrogance of them and anyone who thinks like them.
Now I WANT SOMETHING from the government, etc
I will never get over that

(16,286 posts)YOu see I, as a liberal, vote for and support the right thing even when nobody is looking
or even when I have no skin in the game
They are your heroes?
Nah, I think it is more about me OR PEOPLE LIKE ME, an outspoken liberal, the kind that get under your skin

(16,184 posts)I'm an OEF veteran with PTSD who has seen too many of his friends take their own lives because they couldn't get help, and when two people come along and push to fix that problem, "outspoken liberals" like you shit on them because you don't like them for whatever arbitrary reason.
Again, they've pushed for and successfully gotten passed a bill to help traumatized veterans get help they need. All you've done is shit on advocates. Scoreboard isn't in your favor.

(2,593 posts)they were successful, but wish they could be compassionate about others as well. It's hard for me to reconcile their support for all things republican (no social safety net) except for the situation that directly impacted their lives. Oh, well. At least there was a positive result for one group of people in need.
