4. Only on DU would people "draft" candidates, then go at each others' throats

over those imagined candidates an entire two years before a presidential election. By the time the actual candidates are nominated, all of this will probably have been for nothing, except practice, maybe? I can't think of any other reason for needless red faced, spittle flecked, keyboard burning arguments like this.

We weren't even finished blaming each other for the disaster election results of 2014 before we started fighting the presidential primaries for 2016. Some were even fighting the 2016 presidential primaries before the 2014 primaries even began.

Only on DU do we make stuff up to argue with each other, just for the sake of arguing with each other. We have the circular firing squad mastered now on DU. Maybe it is time to start practicing techniques that would actually work to bring the country back to the center. It needs to at least go back to the center before those of us on the left can ever hope to bring it back a little bit to the left.

Or we could just keep making things up and arguing with each other over these imagined scenarios that are not going to happen. Both Warren and Clinton have repeatedly said they aren't running. So, these arguments are absolutely pointless. Wouldn't it use much less energy to wait until someone actually decides to run, then start arguing for or against them?

That's why I haven't picked a candidate to support. I have sent off some letters encouraging a few individuals to run, hoping that there would be at least one in the mix I'd want to support.

I know I'm NOT supporting any DLC/centrist/3rdWay/"new dem" neo-liberals, but that's all I know at this point.

Edited to add: I've already been told that I waited too long to draft "my" alternate candidate, and that I should just accept the impending coronation.
