TV pastor Pat Robertson warned on Thursday that the government could force Christian florists and bakers out of business if they did not cater to weddings where men marry dogs.
After a Washington state judge found on Wednesday that a Christian florist had violated the states anti-discrimination law by refusing to sell flower arrangements for a same-sex couples wedding, Robertson asserted that an intelligent judge would have ruled against the gay men.
To say that some procedural anomaly in the statute overrides the fundamental religious freedoms of the people, its just crazy, he insisted. And I hope that the lawyers for this florist will appeal this thing to get into the federal courts.
But this is outrageous! the conservative preacher continued. To tell a florist that shes got to provide flowers for a particular kind of wedding. What if somebody wanted to marry his dog? Shes got to have flowers for that? What if theres a polygamous situation where a guy has five wives and he wants to have five ceremonies, and shes going to be forced by the law to provide them flowers. I mean, this is crazy.

(50,559 posts)Any time someone mentions gay weddings, think of forms of sex anyone would find repulsive and go, "well, why shouldn't this be legal too?"
BTW if you want to have lots of fun, when a right-winger starts in on "gay marriage and polygamy are the same," calmly point out the polygamists in the Bible.

(45,251 posts)I once heart Robertson answer a letter from a relatively young girl asking if it was okay for her to date a 21 year old guy. Robertson could have referred her to an adult relative or her pastor. Instead, the perve tells her it's fine and starts bloviating about Heloise and Abelard!

(50,559 posts)Being that a dog can't hold power of attorney, isn't an acceptable dependent on a tax return, can't directly be named on a will, and can't testify in court, what would be the motivation for marrying one? Last I checked Neal Horsley calls the family mule his first girlfriend, not his first wife.

(31,392 posts)you guessed it, I'd marry my dog. Besides, my dog's a she, so, yes, I'd choose gay marriage
to my dog over that buffoon.
Robertson is a complete and utter a$$hole.

(13,877 posts)it's a Bible verse of sorts. You have to be able to see it internally, think about and, in his case, probably watch for awhile to determine its true social evil. Only then are you an expert.

(65,616 posts)worry about X leading to dog fucking? Never. It is always ALWAYS the GOP and the right that has this rather perverse notion about sleeping with animals and dead folk.
It's like some of them think about it constantly. Pat seems to think about dog fucking at least once a week on his show.

(53,661 posts)Fischer makes no bones about how he loves Libertarianism, as he has spent more time promoting that than Jesus in some videos. The fanatical excitement and light in his eyes are near orgasmic.
I guess we can now count Pat and his racist, sexist, misogynist ravings as part of the crew. Pat didn't get to be POTUS either, but this is all part of the same rotten Reagan era BS that gave us Ralph Reed and other dangerous extremists.
AFAIK, no one can be forced to sell anything that is not a public necessity to anyone. This is just more gay bashing from Robertson. He is endangering the lives of gays with his rhetoric.
He's great at that with his countless rambles and direct threats on the lives of Chavez in Venezuela, demonizing the suffering people of Haiti, applauding the flooding of New Orleans, and calling down the wrath of god on communities that don't allow creationism to be taught as science in their public schools.
He has wished death, assassination and natural catastrophy upon all in those regions he calls cursed. And he's never been called to account for his greed that killed so many in Africa.
Robertson is proof that evil truly exists in the world.
