The UK's 'tea party' (UKIP) strikes again: "what happens when renewable energy runs out?"

Ukip candidate wonders "what happens when renewable energy runs out?"

A Ukip election candidate asked "what happens when renewable energy runs out?" at a public meeting this week.

Councillor Victoria Ayling, the party's candidate in Great Grimsby, posed the question at a public meeting in Cleethorpes on Monday, February 16th - prompting "guffaws" from the audience.

According to a report in the Grimsby Telegraph, Cllr Ayling "spouted fiction and scientific incompetence."

It's not the first time comments made by Cllr Ayling has been landed her in hot water. In 2013, a video surfaced of her before she defected to Ukip, where she said she'd like to send immigrants "back". In an outtake from a video made while she was a member of the Conservative party, she says: "We must basically [re]patriate those that shouldn't be here. That's not quite policy yet. Maybe I should soften it a bit ... OK, send them back... I just want to send the lot back, but I can't say that."

If she ever gives up running for office as a member of UKIP, perhaps she can immigrate to the US, naturalize then run as a candidate of the tea party wing of the GOP.

....that Great Grimsby is one of the top seats that UKIP are targeting at this election, so you'd have thought they could have found a halfway competent candidate.
