Feuding or Stalking... when two giant Conserv. activists agenda's conflict: Gaffney vs Norquist

from: http://www.salon.com/2015/02/19/conservative_civil_war_islamophobic_activist_seeks_to_oust_grover_norquist_from_nra_board/

Conservative civil war: Islamophobic activist seeks to oust Grover Norquist from NRA board

Facing re-election to the National Rifle Association’s board of directors, anti-tax activist Grover Norquist is mounting a vigorous fightback against conspiracy theories linking him to the Muslim Brotherhood, writing in a letter to fellow board members that he’s the victim of a smear campaign by anti-Islam activist Frank Gaffney, with whom he has been embroiled in a long-running feud.

In the letter, obtainedby the conservative website Breitbart News, Norquist calls the Center for Security Policy president and Reagan-era Defense Department official a “stalker” who “spins conspiracy theories” that Norquist is gay, a Muslim, and responsible for the Bush administration’s foreign policy blunders. “For the record, No. No. and No,” Norquist responded. “One of his staffers told me I was part of the Russian Jewish Mafia. (Also no, but I think that would pay better.)”

Referring to a recent report by conservative journalist Lee Stranahan, who criticized Norquist family members’ pro-Palestinian activism and highlighted questionable financiers of Norquist’s Islamic Free Market Institute, the Americans for Tax Reform founder wrote that Gaffney allies’ campaign against him had “risen to a new level.” Norquist noted that the American Conservative Union’s board has unanimously condemned Gaffney’s charges of his Islamist ties as “reprehensible” and “unfounded."

.... more at link.

Imagine the alternative universe that is the far right land of big influencers - where the wins to one is getting the other ousted from the NRA board and disinvited to address CPAC, and the other is fighting to stay on the NRA board and to have access to CPAC.

3. agreed. But isn't Norquist a bit looney-tunes? Per starve govt, til it can go down the drain?

The idea that we can have a civilized society with almost no taxes and no govt services - isn't that a different kind of looney-tunes?

Gaffney's is more obvious - and his acting on it makes his more craziness more apparent. But, I think Norquist's positions are just as nuts. Just a different kind of nuts. Imagine - no public highways, no public schools, no police or public safety (fire, fema, etc.), no public services at all. Yea! Grover Norquist's Land!

I agree with you - and find the dispute amusing... albeit also disturbing that so many people take these organizations so seriously, and seem to want both Gaffney's world (spend all our resources on countless wars), and Norquist's world of almost no taxes and no government (in which case we can't fight countless wars, let alone fund local police.)

5. Well, I'm not going to say that grover norquist is gay, and I'm not going to say that frank gaffney

is gay either. And I'm not going to say that either one of them is somehow connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Even though I've heard that grover is gay and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and that actually frank is, too. You know, those all-knowing members of the "some people say" collective do make a point that grover's a gay Muslim and frank is an Islamic gay and that they probably both beat their waves. But I certainly can't say they're both gay Muslims and they are wife-beaters even though "some people say" they might be. So I don't believe in spreading rumors that both norquist and gaffney are gay Muslim wife-beaters and maybe also child molesters because the rumors that both norquist and gaffney are gay Muslim wife-beaters and diddlers and oh yeah - I also heard that they hate America! But maybe that's just a rumor that they may be atheistic baby-killers and Muslims and rapists and stuff. And you know it's just not a nice thing to spread rumors that gaffney and norquist are Communist Islamo-fascist atheistic batterers and diddlers and did I say COMMUNISTS too? Well, it's what I heard.

But it's not nice to spread rumors like that or even believe half of them... (um, how 'bout Islamo-schlammo fascists? Aren't they that, too? After all, there's the four-letter "ammo" word in there, so it HAS to be true that they both secretly wanna take away our guns and our Big Gulp sodas too!!!)

Norquist is among the founding rw agitators/pillars that created the modern far right wing "pledge to this ____, " above the Constitution, and above any obligation to constituents. He did indeed help create the Gaffney's of our society.

7. True. But who would the modern Dr. F be? I think cloning must be afoot:

religious adherence to all things free-market = Dr. F-Friedman
war war war (keep chaos) = Dr. F-PNAC
Ridicule and dehumanize other citizens = Dr. F-Limbaugh
Fear Fear Fear = Dr. F-Aisles/Murdock

And many more. At least in Ms. Shelly's book there was only one Dr. Frankenstien (and I agree that is/was the monster.)
