His name is John Ellis Bush, and by calling him by his nickname, his good ole boy nickname, we are playing his game.
Nothing more than one of the "stupids" saying "I Like good ole Jeb"
But he aint Jeb, he is John Ellis, an elite, very wealthy NORTHERNER...

(72,790 posts)I don't want us up in the North to have to take credit for him.
I believe JEB was born and raised in Texas but went to school up north.

Now, from my perspective, I would say that's something he really had to WORK at...!

He might do better to change to John Ellis.

At least, as i understand, that is how his name has appeared on the Florida ballot in his governor elections.
His name is as much Jeb Bush as James Earl Carter's name was Jimmy Carter. We would look pretty stupid playing games with Bush's name.

(72,790 posts)Carter was prez when I was born.

(42,704 posts)He also used Jimmy when he was sworn in and signed official documents as Jimmy. He was the first (and thus far only) president to use his nickname as his "official" name.

(72,790 posts)I think it's fine if Jeb uses JEB. That's what he goes by, so I have no issue with it.

(11,175 posts)He didn't have a nickname but used his middle name, Woodrow, as his "official" name.

(42,704 posts)But he used Jimmy as his official name.
For example, here's his signature on the Middle East Peace accords:

Rachel Maddow reports on how Jeb Bush's effort to fashion an image of tech savviness suffered a setback when he appears to have forgotten to google the tech advisor he hired, and his new web site exposed private information sent to him in confidence.
