On the other board there are many suggestions the president is a crypto socialist.

Somebody is right or wrong or maybe they both are wrong.

Have equally valid evidence and opinions as those who argue that he is a moderate republican

Sorry, but the opinion of a batshit crazy fascist right winger is not worth as much as those from someone who lives in reality. Obama is not, will not be, and never has been a socialist. He has, on the other hand, supported numerous mainstream 80s Republican policies, in addition to some much worse (drones, fiscal policy, etc.), and some significantly better (DADT, Lily Ledbetter, etc.).

False equivalency; this is an attempt to make the left wing of the Democratic Party look bad by drawing a direct comparison between reality and fantasy, and then claiming reality is fantasy, and somewhere in the middle is the truth.

you will have people present their side whatever it is and their followers will eat it up and believe whatever they say. They don't need valid evidence - they just say it - the MSM picks it up and spits it back out - and the crazies followers believe it.

In this day and age you don't need valid evidence.

That probably sounds snarky, but that's what the situation is. What sort of answer do you expect?

But as a rule of thumb, things said by folks on the left are far more likely to be reality than things said by those on the right.

the person making the judgement and where THEY are on the political spectrum. I have no doubt that there are members here that are very left politically, just as there are those that are moderate politically. Each will view how liberal or moderate or conservative they feel the President is based on their views and reactions to what the President does.
