Ohio Fox Anchor Calls Lady Gaga's Music 'Jigaboo' In Front Of Black Colleague

A news anchor for a Fox affiliate in Ohio described Lady Gaga's Academy Awards performance as "jigaboo music" live on the air Monday in front of her black colleague.

Kristi Capel, who co-hosts Cleveland-based WJW's "Fox 8 News In The Morning," was discussing the performance when she said: "It's hard to really hear her voice with all the jigaboo music."

"Whatever you want to call it, jigaboo," she added.

Capel soon apologized on Twitter, saying she didn't know the meaning of the word

This insensitive idiot should be given an unpaid suspension if not fired ....

unless, of course, it is
fox's policy to talk out of their asses without knowing what the are talking about.

oh yeah, that IS their policy policy

How could anybody get pissy over a collection of Rodgers and Hammerstein songs?

There are some very strange people over at Fox.

How did the co-host react?

That comment was in relation to Lady Gaga's normal music, and how she liked the sound of music performance more.

But I doubt in the last three or four decades that a Program Director has had to get on an air talent about using the word jigaboo.

And yet she makes her living with words. She may have no idea what they mean, but she's apparently learned her words phonetically, and she can repeat these sounds flawlessly -- just like a person would instead of a parrot or minor bird.

- They'll keep her on staff -- for now. But as soon as Monsanto comes up with a GMO blonde-parrot with 38D breasts, she outta there. They'll work for GMO bird seed.

It's very possible that she had no idea what it meant. In fact, I think it's very likely.

The last time I heard that word was in the late 1950's when my father used it to describe the new "rock n'roll" music. I was merely a teenager yet I somehow knew that it was a word not to be used in any context.

I agree with the poster who said if you don't know the meaning of a word, don't use it.
