(note: I inadvertently put two- may I add, very nice- photos by Hoppy into the contest which may have skewed the results a bit and I apologize to all... and unfortunately I had to disqualify one of them... so glad that my errors weren't much more egregious than that )

(3,595 posts)It was in southern New Jersey at the Edwin R. Forsythe Wildlife Preserve, 10 miles north of Atlantic City. The other untitled photo was from Sandy Hook, N.J.
I will probably catch hell from other N.J. residents for pointing out that N.J. does have innumerable scenic landscapes, from the Skylands, to the beach, to Horse Country, Wine Trail and to the marsh lands.
Pointing out N.J. nature scenes, brings tourists and traffic. We would rather keep the image of N.J. as that of the smelly turnpike that is the brunt of jokes on late night tv.
I just did work in New Jersey, last December in Camden County, and we discovered many delightful places...

(22,758 posts)as we all know, 2nd continues to be the desired position in the Photography Group

(60,077 posts)and deserved the win. I knew from day one that was the winner. It had that bleak dust bowl feel about it. It could have been a drooled over hidden jewel of a six figure painting shown at Antique Roadshow.

(27,453 posts)Coming in second is always my goal!
Thanks to Handmade34 for running this challenge. And thanks to all who liked my photo. This was pretty unexpected! I love minimalism in photography. In a world of images that often are more representative of chaos and sensory overload, I find minimalism soothing to the eye and soul.

(22,758 posts)where is Helga? she must be over by the shed, lying down...
...just kidding, but I did have the pleasure years ago to enjoy an exhibition of Wyeth's Helga paintings!

(50,566 posts)Could have been San Francisco, too. Anyway, it was great to see all those paintings en masse.
I always wondered what Mrs. Wyeth really thought about the whole thing. It was kind of bizarre!
she's hiding out braiding her hair.
I, too, am a fan of the Helga paintings.

It was a beautiful contest, and wonderfully run by Handmade34.
Just how did you find all the encouraging photos throughout. I'm impressed.
Onward and upward to March - MzPip - I simply groove on your photo. It completely encompasses the theme and gives me a catch in the heart.
