Repubs claim net neutrality is tax increase scam

Nick Baumann reports for MoJo that Republicans like Utah Sen. Mike Lee are warning that net neutrality rules, on which the FCC will vote Thursday, are “essentially a massive tax increase on the middle class, being passed in the dead of night without the American public really being made aware of what is going on.”

I've seen ad on TV that warns of the above. Well done & probably very effective for those who don't really know cable & telecom's plan to sell the net to the highest bidders.

A new study of Republicans reveals that they are actually able to claim anything they want to anytime and usually as a means to get what they want for their backers.

The ten-year study uncovered some shocking similarities between Republican lawmakers and adolescents when it comes to resorting to mythical thinking and making up stories to support their views. This "creative reality" could actually be a useful skill for creative writing or artistic endeavors, but the subjects in the study lacked any capacity to translate those skills into anything but fantasy-filled, political rhetoric, which may explain why these individuals seek public office.

The results of the study also show a remarkable similarity of personality traits that are the result of patterns developed in early childhood, including temper tantrums, repression, fundamental religious ideas, pathological lying, an obsessive early interest in acquiring wealth, and more. The subjects had a strong tendency to project their unconscious contents out onto people and groups and showed a remarkable lack of compassion and rarely engaged in any form of self reflection or investigation into their own thoughts and feelings.

Further studies will attempt to probe deeper into this mindset and explore the connection between this subset of egocentric policy makers and their appeal to voters.
