Bristol Palin: "my Mom helped. A lot."

In other words, the pundits say Senator McCain made a huge mistake. But where’s the evidence to back up this conventional wisdom? I’m not a pundit, but I remember the race. I was there. I remember the frenzied crowds after my mom joined the ticket. I remember the huge fundraising surge. I remember her convention speech. I even remember how McCain/Palin took a polling lead over Obama/Biden.

Then the economy melted down. You could feel people’s fear. You could see it in their eyes on the trail. McCain suspended his campaign to rush back to Washington to deal with the crisis. A lot of people criticized him, but he did what he thought was right. And guess what, the economy was melting down while Republicans were in charge.

Take a good look at this list of polls. Shortly after Senator McCain picked my mom, the polls turned favorable. But he lost the lead for good the week he suspended his campaign, and we never got it back. Not in a single poll.

But even then, my Mom helped. A lot. She raised millions of dollars that helped us fight hard until the last moment. And Senator McCain actually performed better among those for whom the “Palin Pick” was very important to their vote. Immediate post-election polling shows a large majority of Republicans thought my mom helped Senator McCain and more than 90% had a favorable or very favorable view of her.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/bristolpalin/2012/04/defending-the-%E2%80%9Cpalin-pick%E2%80%9D/

All she could talk about was the polling bump that McCain/Palin got right after the VP pick. I'm not one to go after the children of politicians, but when one steps out like Bristol has here she should feel the heat of writing such an ignorant and shallow article that ignores her mother's stupidity and insipidness.

Bristol is being loyal to her Mom - can't fault her for that. And IMHO, she is right about "Hotstart" McCain blowing the whole campaign by flipping out at the meltdown and rushing to Washington to do - ???? And simultaneously, Obama is being a statesman and keeping his head on straight.

Given that Bristol didn't write a single word on "her" blog, I say full speed ahead. But keep in mind, Nancy French is Sarah Palin's latest ghostpublicist. Bristol can barely write a comprehensible sentence that doesn't include a profanity to give it context.

What kind of lunatic hijacks her daughter's blog, which is supposed to be about said daughter raising her son?

Everything in the Palin universe satellites around Sarah's enormous but deeply bruised ego. No wonder Track put a ring on his pregnant sweetheart's finger and vanished somewhere far from Sarah's prying eyes and the cameras they desperately seek out.

Since Bristol was too busy gaining weight on Dancing with the Stars to vote during the 2010 supposed Tea Party takeover -- and she was too busy being pregnant and in the international spotlight thanks to mom during the 2008 race -- I doubt she was really paying much attention to anything other than the emotional chaos she and the rest of the Palin kids were thrown into.

Oct 25th, 2008:

In polling conducted Wednesday and Thursday evenings, after the disclosure that the Republican National Committee used political funds to help Palin assemble a wardrobe for the campaign, 51 percent said they have a negative impression of her. Fewer, 46 percent, said they have a favorable view. That marks a stark turnaround from early September, when 59 percent of likely voters held positive opinions.

The declines in Palin's ratings have been even more substantial among the very voters Republicans aimed to woo. The percentage of white women viewing her favorably dropped 21 points since early September; among independent women, it fell 24 points.

More broadly, the intensity of negative feelings about Palin is also notable: Forty percent of voters have "strongly unfavorable" views, more than double the post-convention number. Nearly half of independent women now see her in a very negative light, a nearly threefold increase.

The shift in Palin's ratings come with a pronounced spike in the percentage of voters who see her as lacking the experience it takes to be a good president. Voters were about evenly divided on that question a month and a half ago, but toward the end of September a clear majority said she was not qualified. In the new poll, 58 percent said she is insufficiently experienced.

Of course, once they really knew her:

Winning: Independent voters say they’d pick Charlie Sheen over Sarah Palin

A recent poll found that the more independent voters would vote for the disgraced actor in a presidential matchup against Fox News employee Sarah Palin.

While two-thirds of those asked in the PPP survey (.pdf) viewed Sheen unfavorably, independents apparently like Palin even less.

Among independent voters, 41 percent would cast their ballot for Sheen. Only 36 percent would select Palin in the hypothetical matchup.

“We’ve found a lot of brutal poll numbers for Sarah Palin so far in 2011: down in South Dakota, down in South Carolina, down in Arizona, only up by 1 point in Texas, only up by 1 point in Nebraska to name a few,” PPP’s Tom Jenson wrote. “But this has to be the worst.”
