General Discussion

First off: Sources deep inside DU have notified me that some members are questioning my recent correspondence from the war-zone known as Free Republic and have gone as far as comparing me to Bill O'Reilly and Brian Williams. This hurts deeply.
I will offer a small Mea culpa to say that a small part of my reporting was obtained from Screen Shots of Free Republic. Other than that, the rest was created with real on the ground reporting.
With that said--
Day 6 and why I have handed in my resignation.
Reporting from Free Republic is Ground Hog day on steroids. Same shit just a different day. Rehashed monotonous cut and paste bile posted by the same characters non-stop. Dare poke them and watch out---their clan comes runnin with a whiny pitch that will make your ears bleed. Sort of the 3rd rail of douchebaggery.
In a nutshell: I've enjoyed sharing my reports from Free Republic to my fellow DU'ers and I appreciate the near unanimous approval of the reports. Unfortunately I find that my IQ has dropped 50 points in the last 6 days and my wife has noticed a small steady stream of drool at the corner of my right lip. Not good!
In closing: I am so glad that I have DU. No clans here---no cut and paste brigades, no trolls, no Freepers, ---and when a lifelong Democrat is attacked, we crush the attacker.
God Bless DU!

Day 6 at Free Republic and sadly my last report.....
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026335755
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This SPAM of GD is over the top, we have no dealt with day after day of disruptive meta posts from this OP. Their only purpose is to use satire to mock fellow DU'ers. Please vote to hide this post as disruptive meta, the hosts won't do their job will the jury do it for them?
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Mar 9, 2015, 09:20 AM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: You have to be fucking kidding. If you don't like what a mirror held up to you shows, you don't complain about someone holding the mirror.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The alert person has lost contact with reality. Really if you dont like trumad - ignore him. I personally appreciate his posts.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: There's plenty of evidence to support the poster's mockery. I wish there was a way to report the reporter for taking up bandwidth complaining about a long-time DU poster. I see NOTHING wrong with the OP. I have to ask: who's the troll here?
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Somebody call the whammmmbulance, Manny has a sad! To the alerter, thanks for pointing me to this, I plan on rec'ing it.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I despise these types of threads and have trashed every one of trumad's attempt at humor, but I don't think it should be hidden.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: craziest alert I've ever seen
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(6,829 posts)and it usually resulted in getting shut down by a jury. and i was accused of promoting Conservative viewpoints surreptitiously.
So I have to craft such posts in a way that doesn't cause such negative results.
And I have an idea about this subject that will actually require work. I interact with conservatives, IRL and on FB, and I marvel at just how far apart the frames are for any given issues depending on whether progressive or conservative. The most recent example is the recent FCC ruling on net neutrality. My take is that I'm overjoyed the Oligarch's will let us keep a free and open and uncensored not owned by corporations internet. I feel our entire Democratic Republic is hanging on by a thread and the only thing left we have that can possibly GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE EVILS OF OUR CORPORATE OVERLORDS, so that we can all work for the next thirty years or so to restoring our democracy to something that was more progressive and fair - like the USA in the fifties, except for the sexism and discrimination and prejudice parts. Mostly the 1956 Republican party platform parts.
HOWEVER,
the frame I see with our Conservative friends is that this net neutrality thing is over-regulation and un american and yet another example of Obama overstepping his authority and taking away more of our freedoms. they see it as a power grab by a President that answers to no authority and no laws other than his own dictatorial whims.
Where the hell they get that from is incomprehensible, but it's amazing how twisted any issue can be depending on the frame. Makes me feel like everything I know is wrong.
And, lastly, we are in an age where, contrary to Daniel Moynahans famous pronouncement, these days we all are truly "entitled to our own facts", as it's now possible to substantiate any possible point of view no matter how inaccurate. And thats because we no longer have Cronkite or murrow or Huntley Brinkley journalists that actually practice journalism according to how proper journalism should be practiced, as opposed to the AGENDA DRIVEN CORPORATE PROPAGANDA we are all supposed to accept as news these days.
Which leads to my last question - is there any news source that both sides can agree is fair and impartial and professional in their adherence to the proper and best practices of journalism? All we seem to have is journalism that fits in what ever political bubble is our personal preference. It would be nice to debate issues using the same set of high quality peer reviewed facts like we used to do in the 60's.

I kept waiting for the substance of what they wanted to do and it never came. They put out so much hate and very little substance, probably because their Republican leaders never tell them what alternative courses should be taken on the various issues. The only thing they have is opposition to what we say and do, they have no answers.

(9,688 posts)because it lacked in believability, where you suggested that Freepers would reject HRC for her Iraq War vote, and for her ties to wall street, and that whole third way business.
Everyone knows that is false. What is true is that Freepers hate HRC because she's a social liberal, a 3rd way corporate liberal who believes that if all corporate demands are met, all the demands of war profiteers and banking privateers are met (Victoria Nuland: what is good enough for Dick is good enough for Hillary, and John), there can still be some tokens to throw at issues of social equality. That rubs the tea party the wrong way. And Freepers are tea party thru' and thru'.
