This isn't the first time Tom Cotton's been caught being un-American

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/22/tom-cotton-corruption-of-blood_n_3322251.html

"Rep. Tom Cotton (R-obviously) on (Feb. 22, 2013) offered legislative language that would 'automatically' punish family members of people who violate U.S. sanctions against Iran, levying sentences of up to 20 years in prison.

...

"Cotton also seeks to punish any family member of those people, 'to include a spouse and any relative to the third degree,' including 'parents, children, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces...' Cotton said.

...

"After some back-and-forth with Grayson and Royce, Cotton relented and withdrew the amendment."

His campaign was mostly funded by the Koch brothers and you can rest assured his only concern is to do their bidding. Of course the fact that our former Senator Pryor ran away from the Affordable care act as fast as he could did not help those of us who tried to keep the seat in Democratic party hands. You can't win many elections when your candidate doesn't act like a Democrat in so many ways.

I can assure you that Cotton has strong ambitions above and beyond a Senate seat. I have had discussions with two relatives of his and they basically call him a real snake. Sure would help a lot if his greed for power manages to snare him in a political mess but barring that we must find a way to limit him to a single term.

If his words and actions start a war in Iran, I'd bust the bastard to Second Lieutenant and ship him right back. Since his troop leading time was as an infantry platoon leader, he'll pick it right up, I'm sure.

The saddest part is, he's a lawyer. Apparently he was home sick with the flu the day they studied the Constitution.

They won't attack if you just leave them the hayul alone, and they do a good job of cleaning out rabbit overpopulations - hence, they are a necessary part of the Southern ecosystem.

OTOH, the best thing we could do for the Washington, DC ecosystem is to box Tom Cotton up and ship him back to Arkansas, the sooner the better.

Cotton wanted to prosecute family members of Iranians because he figured the people who did the crimes would transfer their assets to family members before we caught them. In order to get the assets he assumed (probably correctly) they would hide, he planned to arrest their families.

This is more of a "corruption of blood" bill than a pure attainder, but corruption of blood is part of attainder.

I think he could be prosecuted under the conditions of the bill he tried to introduce.

I say ...Hell Yeah! He has aided and abetted Iran, he and everyone of his relatives and offspring for at least the 7th generation should end up in the pokey and have all their property & means of livelihood confiscated, distributed for the better good of the common wealth.

At Koch Retreat, Top GOP Senate Candidates Credited Koch Network For Their Rise
Posted: 08/27/2014 12:24 am EDT Updated: 08/28/2014 10:59 am EDT

WASHINGTON -- Three top Republican Senate candidates heaped praise on the political network built by the conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch during a secretive conference held by the brothers this past summer, according to audio of the event.

Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst and Arkansas Rep. Tom Cotton directly credited donors present at the June 16 retreat in Dana Point, California, for propelling them forward. Colorado Rep. Cory Gardner told attendees that his race would likely be decided by the presence of "third party" money -- an obvious pitch for generosity from the well-heeled crowd.

Koch Brothers Flout Law Getting Richer With Iran Sales

Internal company records show that Koch Industries used its foreign subsidiary to sidestep a U.S. trade ban barring American companies from selling materials to Iran. Koch-Glitsch offices in Germany and Italy continued selling to Iran until as recently as 2007, the records show.

The company’s products helped build a methanol plant for Zagros Petrochemical Co., a unit of Iran’s state-owned National Iranian Petrochemical Co., the documents show. The facility, in the coastal city of Bandar Assaluyeh, is now the largest methanol plant in the world, according to IHS Inc., an Englewood, Colorado-based provider of chemicals, energy and economic data.
