Benjamin Netanyahu has accused ‘Western governments, and mostly Scandinavian’ of trying to remove him from power by spending millions of dollars on meddling with Israeli upcoming elections where Israel's prime minister is facing a tough challenge.

"Scandinavian governments have spent millions of dollars on a campaign to remove me from power," he said in an interview on the Kol Israel radio station.

"Western governments, but mostly Scandinavian...They know perfectly well why they prefer Buji and Livni [his opponents in the elections] to me," Israeli PM added, as cited by The Local.

wow - he must be in hot waters if he think Sweden, Denmark and Norway would spend millions of dollars, to topple him from power - I suspect he might be able to topple himself out of the government by his own actions, rather han that Scandinavia, who for years have been involved in trying to make some form of peace in the middle east - most notable between Israel and the palestinian people - and I suspect we was close to a deal who could have benefited both people - in the mid 1990s - when everything was falling apart again - and then the hardliners, like mr Netanyahu started to do what they have been doing - and the prospect of a peace deal - and a separate palestinian state to be more remote than ever before...

I think mr Netanyahu either is playing with fire - or is more paranoid than he ever have been - as it looks like he might as well be finished in Israels politic, or at least as head of the government - for the time being .... And I do think the scandinavian states would like one who is little more willing to compromise to get a lasting peace - than a person who will never back down - and never compromise, if it goes in the disfavor of Israel that is...
