"The Moral Arc" by Michael Shermer. It is about how evolutionary adaptations and scientific mindsets have resulted in a more moral world. He mentions that natural selection has done the calculation for organisms' survival, who then evolved emotions as proxies for those calculations. That got me thinking. Is money discussed in citizen's united a proxy for the rich people and/or corporations, not speech, giving them power on steroids? Because that money is used to exponentially hire election workers and advertising people and others to represent the voter who gives to the pac when it is supposed to be one person, one vote. A whole army is created to push the agenda of one voter with deep pockets. It is no longer about one persons vote if they donate across electoral boundaries. The poor cannot donate in other districts. Money is not speech it is proxy to influence the election outside of where you can vote.
