(11,833 posts)Thanks for sharing it here A HERETIC I AM!
Malia's a beautiful young woman. I'm glad she's been able to retain her privacy. I wish her all the best in choosing a university.
And of course, I wish all the best for President Obama, Michelle and the entire family.
A HERETIC I AM

(51,076 posts)I voted for him in the primary and both general elections.
Of all the votes I've cast his is the ones I'm most proud of. I'm 66, dang near 67 yo too. So there is a quiet a few to pick from too.
I like, I love my President. Does he always do as I wish? No, but I have no problem with that as no one can be just like me. For the general direction he leads I like
President Obama will be remembered as one hell of a good guy who was an awfully good President. The best in my years thats for sure.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,370 posts)And this is the first president that is younger than I am!
He is indeed "one hell of a good guy"
Could not agree more.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)I even voted for him when he was up against Bobby Rush, and I knew he wasn't going to win BUT I did my part.

Love him and his beautiful family, here and everywhere. He is better than we deserve and I will keep working to change our corrupt system, and the TPP that is a symptom of it.

(81,320 posts)I think history is going to be as kind to him as it will be increasingly brutal on bush/cheney. President Obama will be remembered for mostly good things. LOTS of remarkable accomplishments. He makes me proud to be an American. On the other hand, the teabaggers and GOP and other political whores make me ashamed.

(24,577 posts)represent the best of humanity. Genuine, thoughtful, caring and compassionate. PBO and FLOTUS appear to be doing a wonderful job raising their girls, especially given they are in such public roles. I am sure the girls treasure these special moments with PBO.
Lovely picture, AHIA, and I appreciate the OP.

(16,334 posts)and I agree. There is something very genuine about them and this picture just captured an instance of it.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,370 posts)The pic, though nearly 5 years old, showed up on my Facebook feed and I thought it was...well....perfect.
I like the guy. I really do. If he hadn't pursued politics, he had a great future as a humorist or a stand up, honestly. The way he handles himself, his timing, his subtle smiles when he knows something he said is funny..just kills me. I really do enjoy watching him speak, especially when he is , as the English say, "Taking the piss" or as we would call it, pulling your leg or having you on.
Not to mention he is CLEARLY in love with his family.
Such a contrast to the man he replaced and HIS daughters, eh? We never saw them (or very little) and that was by design I am sure. The PTB knew they were an embarrassment.
But not the Obama Daughters. Perfectly lovely young ladies who it has been a pleasure watching grow up in the White House.

(70,127 posts)i might, i say might, get over having them move to new york instead of back to chicago if he were to have ANY sort of teevee presence. but i think he is so funny. he would be just perfect in a letterman type format.
i heard so many stories on the campaign trail from peeps from way back when. i have trusted that he is the good and kind and honest man that he appears to be. those girls show that they have been raised by brave, loving hearts.

(20,219 posts)Yes, that's a good way to put it.
I agree, totally.
I think there's something tragic about people who can't see that. Something very wrong.

(10,168 posts)I love that Grandma is with the family too. I've always thought that was really cool and a beautiful message to send to others (although not necessarily their intent). I recently saw Sasha for the first time in a while and was shocked at how she's blossomed! She's shot up and doesn't look like a kid anymore.
I'm going to miss the Obamas.

that brown people overseas matter, even if we don't know them and be called an idiot than shill for sociopaths any day of the week!
Your profile states that your location is "various," which suggests that you are in the military. Probably posted this OP as disinfo per usual. And also have no qualms about droning people to death like a video game.

(1,695 posts)I know there are, obviously..but the standard pics are of the prez in a leadership role. Doing head of state type things.
It's very, very cool to see him hanging with his daughter. I love the picture! I'm lucky enough to soon be having those moments with my baby girl due in July. It's my first!!
Eta, I'd love to hear what their talking about, lol. It's none of my buisness but again, I'd love to see our prez talking real to his daughter..a glimpse at papa Obama 😄

(3,944 posts)Obama: Man, those Republicans are driving me crazy. I extend an olive branch, and all they can do is question my patriotism, my character, hell, even my citizenship!
Malia: Yeah, I know, Dad. They're really just a bunch of assholes - I go to school with a bunch of their kids. You always told me to ignore them and they'll go away. Hey, maybe in your second term, you can really stick it to them!

(41,145 posts)the President cares about fathering & family, inspiring to see. I think of my Dad every day & times I had with him that I cherish. The awful treatment that the Obamas have endured is a disgrace, despicable, un-American & shameful.
