Helping the working poor, one tax return at a time.

So far my Just Harvest/United Way volunteer group in Southwestern PA has started more than 3,000 tax returns.

We've generated more than $7.2 million in total refunds, including more than $3.7 million in EITC. Participants tell us that they'll use this money to make rent/mortgage payments, buy food and clothing for their children, repair a broken-down car, and pay overdue bills. A lucky few may even be able to create a savings fund for emergencies.

That's money coming back to our area which will be spent in our local economy on necessities of life & help the working poor avoid homelessness. The tax code is extremely complex. The One Percenters have their own CPAs & tax lawyers to help them avoid taxes by moving profits overseas. I'm proud to be part of this effort to help the working poor complete the returns to get the $$$ to which they're entitled.
