He had a string of excellent documentaries. He won awards for them. He had a great track record. What silenced him? I haven't heard about him in a long time. Has he retired from the movie making business? Is he working on a new documentary? Does anyone here know?

It's my policy not to discuss my projects until I release them publicly. You can probably imagine why I have to do it this way. All I'll say is, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
Here's his website.

(3,569 posts)He is also getting his theater and film festival off the ground. He was heavily involved in the "American Sniper" broohaha and walked back some of his statements. His theater showed the film.

(15,036 posts)A simple Google search also brought up that he divorced his wife last year after 23 years of marriage. That sort of situation can wreck havoc with a person's life, so it's not surprising he hasn't been doing much lately.

(1,967 posts)I don't think the studios would allow another Fahrenheit 9/11. Hollywood is totally wingnutty now, except on gay marriage.

(20,166 posts)I also seem to recall that at the end of "Capitalism: A Love Story" he was feeling burned out from exposing all that he had exposed over the years with none of it seeming to instigate any significant change.
It's been a while since I've seen it, but I think he said something like that near the end.

(41,144 posts)situation, saw him on Bill Maher but that was almost 2 years ago. Didn't realize he was working more on his theater & film festival. Michigan friends have attended the festival for years. Hope he continues producing films for the sake of public awareness, Heaven knows there's no other equivalent. (Raising an issue w/o necessarily knowing the answer is OK & valid for discussion, except perhaps for those who use the internets, google & twitter for most knowledge).
