fuck this fucking fucked up fuck
In an interview published in Playboy, Cheney called Obama "the worst president in my lifetime," and that his damaging legacy will endure.
"I used to have significant criticism of Jimmy Carter," said the former Republican vice president. "But compared to Barack Obama and the damage he is doing to the nation it's a tragedy, a real tragedy, and we are going to pay a hell of a
price just trying to dig out from under his presidency."
Cheney attacked Obama's foreign policy, including a "precipitous withdrawal" and the status of the U.S. military.

WTF was doing in that undisclosed location
"I work physical security at an undisclosed location in southern Pennsylvania, that's all I can say," said a well-armed fatigues-clad Army guard as he politely but firmly told the reporter that "everything you see is classified."
There is not all that much to be seen.
Site R -- also known as Raven Rock or the Alternate Joint Communications Center -- is a 53-year-old facility conceived at the start of the Cold War as an alternate command center in the event of nuclear war or an attack on Washington.
Sloping, round-humped Raven Rock Mountain sprouts a thicket of antennae, satellite dishes, and a microwave tower. From state Route 16, the main road that passes the mountain, two oversize metal doors in the hillside are visible through the heavy foliage giving it that Fortress of Solitude touch.
Information about Site R is available on the Internet, and its location -- and use by Cheney -- appeared in several news stories even before the publication of Bamford's book.
Cheney's disappearance to undisclosed locations -- a frequent occurrence after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks -- is believed to be unprecedented for the nation's highest elected officials.
As described by Bamford, the mountain also has a helipad. "But deep inside the hard greenstone granite mountain is a secret world of five buildings, each three stories tall, computer-filled caverns, and a subterranean water reservoir," he writes.
Within hours of the Sept. 11 attacks, Bamford said, five helicopters landed on the helipad, a convoy of sport utility vehicles with black-tinted windows arrived at the main entrance, and tan buses "began laboring up the steep, two-lane road to the heavily guarded, unmarked service entrance. Among those early to arrive was Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz."

(5,829 posts)In what is the first ever conviction of its kind anywhere in the world, the former US President and seven key members of his administration were yesterday (Fri) found guilty of war crimes.
Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and their legal advisers Alberto Gonzales, David Addington, William Haynes, Jay Bybee and John Yoo were tried in absentia in Malaysia.
The trial held in Kuala Lumpur heard harrowing witness accounts from victims of torture who suffered at the hands of US soldiers and contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the end of the week-long hearing, the five-panel tribunal unanimously delivered guilty verdicts against Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and their key legal advisors who were all convicted as war criminals for torture and cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment.
Full transcripts of the charges, witness statements and other relevant material will now be sent to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, as well as the United Nations and the Security Council.

(8,964 posts)However, for Dick Cheney, this type of kneejerk comment takes on a special significance. Perhaps Cheney was a bit too close to the action with multiple domestic, economic, and foreign policy fiascos taking place under and GW Bush's watch prior to January of 2009. Can projection lead to amnesia, or vice-versa?

Carter presidency sabotaged by Repugs, oil lobby
US Republicans and US oil industry interests either directly or effectively eliminated John and Robert Kennedy from helping put the United States on a reasonable, just and sustainable course for the future. They got Texas' Lyndon Johnson to bat for their oil and militarist interests, then initiated the take-down of Nixon as Nixon's innate distrust of the U.S. Eastern Establishment (Nixon's misplaced trust in GHW Bush** aside) re-surfaced following his ascent to the presidency in 1969.
Actually, when Republican oil/intelligence interests couldn't get Nixon to pick their man GHW Bush in 1968 instead of Spiro Agnew for the VP slot, they started the clock on Nixon.
The uber-fascist Republican/oil lobby got war-criminal Henry Kissinger hard-wired into Jimmy Carter's presidency; a feat akin akin to putting a psychopath on a pulpit to foster ethics and morality. After more than 25 yrs of these U.S fascists' overthrow of the democratically elected Iranian government of Mossadegh in order to reinstall the pro-US/Britain corporatist, autocratic rule of Shah Pahlavi, these U.S. fascists facilitated exiled Shah Pahlavi's admittance into the United States after he escaped Iran with billion$ stashed in foreign banks, leaving Iran without accounting for his SAVAK/CIA security/intelligence horrors perpetrated on Iranians. The Carter administration had assured the new Iranian government that the Shah would not be allowed in exile in the United States. When this assurance was breached at the insistence of and blackmailing efforts of the Shah's good buddy Kissinger, most every politically cognizant person in the world knew the Iranians would be furious; whereupon, in very short order, Iranian civilians took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
As the period of the takeover, hostage situation, was growing, the same U.S. Repug/oil industry fascists who put down the red carpet for the exiled Shah's entry into the U.S., in collusion with fascist Israel's Mossad and fascist Afrikaner South Africa, willfully committed treason against the U.S. government by covertly negotiating with Ayatollah's Iran for the release of U.S. hostages to ensure Iran would not negotiate with the Carter administration for the hostages' release, the latter being an actuality that would most likely have contributed to the re-election of Jimmy Carter in 1980, then conceivably a world that would never have experienced the terrorUSt$ reign of Ronald Reagan and the Bush Dynasty.
