Utah is trying to seize public land for private use - SWUA

Utah’s Legislature adjourned last week, but not before authorizing expenditures of more than 12 million in Utah taxpayer dollars for the campaign to seize control of Utah’s wild lands.

What do they want to do with Utah wilderness should they be successful in seizing it?

Graze it. Mine it. Drill it.

Utah lawmakers are clear about their vision for the future of America’s redrock wilderness. Here’s what they said about the San Rafael Swell and the wild lands around Cedar Mesa:

“[T]he highest and best use of vast tracts of land in these areas is . . . continued grazing, [and] energy and mineral development.”

Deeda Seed,
Associate Director
Southern Utah Wilderness
