Quincy teacher upset by phallic party favors at iParty
QUINCY
Dora the Explorer balloons do not belong in the same store as dancing penises, Michelle Andrews said in an email to The Patriot Ledger.
Its a family store, the Quincy preschool teacher said later when contacted by telephone. Its so inappropriate.
A visit by a Patriot Ledger reporter to the store on Granite Street in Quincy Center confirmed that the bachelorette items that Andrews found offensive were on display in an aisle across the store from the childrens area. The favors included genital-shaped whistles, wind-up toys and candy, and other items. The shelf is marked grown-ups only, please, but at least one couple with a preteen daughter walked past the bachelorette shelf.

Andrews said she called the city clerks office and was told that the adult items should have been kept in a separate section of the store open only to shoppers 18 and older. An attempt to contact City Clerk Joe Shea on Wednesday for confirmation of that policy was unsuccessful.
