Sure, Hillary is uniting the rainbow filled world of wealthy conservatives, investment bankers and likely war criminals. Everyone else? Not so much. I guess we can say she is looking for love in all the wrong places. From the man himself
I know Hillary as a person. And as a personal friend, I would say yes, she'd be a good president. But she'd put me under a great conflict of interest if she were a candidate, because I intend to support the Republicans. ... Yes, I'd be comfortable with her as the president.

Hillary Clinton recently reviewed Henry Kissingers new book, World Order, for the Washington Post and were not sure this is the reaction she was hoping for.

In Hillary Clinton's predictable, self-serving, overlong, boilerplate review of Henry Kissinger's new book, published last week in the Washington Post, she - well, the communications grunt who actually wrote the review - praises a man who should be serving life in prison for war crimes.
While there is no point addressing the majority of her article, nauseating and noxious as it is, a few things stick out. The first is that Hillary Clinton is friends with a whole lot of absolutely despicable people.

Love for Jeb Bush
I want to say thank you to both Secretary Clinton and to President Clinton, thank you for your service to our country, Jeb Bush says in the video. We are united by our love of country and public service.
Hillary Clinton says, I want to say a special thank you to Governor Bush Now this is not the first time a Clinton and a Bush have shared this stage.

Love for GW Bush
Speaking to CNN on Sunday, she praised President George W. Bush's AIDS relief programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, saying his initiatives there make her "proud to be an American."
In the same interview, Clinton distanced herself from President Obama's foreign policy, suggesting that he has not made it clear how D.C. "intend[s] to lead and manage" international affairs. Clinton advocated a more interventionist approach, arguing that, "We have to go back out and sell ourselves" as guarantors of worldwide stability. Currently, the U.S. military has as many as 900 bases worldwide, and has ground troops or drones active in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Yemen.

I did a lot of reaching across the aisle working with people who had a lot of political differences with me, she said.
Clinton recalled the days after 9/11 when as a Senator from New York, she lobbied President George W. Bush in the Oval Office for aid to New York. President Bush looked at us and said, What do you need? And I said, We need $20 billion to rebuild New York Mr. President. And he said, You got it. I will never forget that, Clinton recalled.

Love For Wall Street
Goldman Sachs chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein embraces his preferred presidential candidate at a Clinton Foundation event. (AP)
Lloyd Blankfein was on a panel at the Clinton Global Initiative, performing his Mitt Romney impression to the approving nods of Bill and Hilary Clinton neoliberal sycophants. I only wish I could give the Clintons enough money to attend. It was an artful collage of the ideas of the .1%, delivered by the feral rich themselves.
Blankfein praised the U.S. for having accepted a higher unemployment rate over the past few years, even as it bailed out the banks. Labor market flexibilityreflected in the ability of U.S. companies to fire workersis one of the reasons the U.S. is doing so well despite many headwinds in the economy, he said.
Thats Blankfeins shoutout to his friends in the Obama administration, which was so helpful to the criminal class on Wall Street: tons of money for their insolvent businesses, no criminal prosecutions, and tax deductions for those fines and penalties and give-backs paid to whiny losers like pension plans and governments. It was also a compliment to the jackasses in the Tea Party, who helpfully kept taxes down on hyper-rich jerks like Blankfein while slashing support for the people Blankfein and his fellow smart bankers ruined in the Great Crash.

Love for Newt Gingrich
?w=594&h=349&crop=1
Newt Gingrich would get up and say the worst thing about Bill and sometimes me during the day, and then hed kind of come over to the White House and go up to the second floor, and theyd try to work out what they could do on everything from welfare reform to balancing the budget to dealing with the Mexican financial crisis, you name it, she said.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/03/19/fun-hillary-is-here-to-make-you-forget-those-e-mails.html
(Speaking of Mexico, we have NAFTA and 100s of thousands of lost jobs. Bipartisanship gave us Wall Street deregulation leading to disaster and more jobs losses. Welfare reform? Millions moved into extreme poverty and over all rates higher than before the "reform". We don't need more of this kind of third way compromise.)
This isn't just reaching across the aisle. This is snuggling up under a warm blanket with the political class that has kept us going backwards for nearly 40 years. It is perfectly valid to assess this candidate by the close company she keeps.
I edited this to be fair to Goldman Sachs who is certainly ready for Hillary. I edited it again to be fair to Gingrich. He wouldn't be happy being left off the love mobile.)

(20,136 posts)Your "Love for GW Bush section links to an article written by a libertarian Ron Paul supporter that links to Breitbart.com and the Washington Times as its sources. (On her website, she says she wants government out of Wall Streets pocket.) And nothing in that article backs up the claim that Hillary praised Bush.
Your Love for Jeb Bush section links to Glenn Becks website. The quote comes from her speech after receiving an award from the National Constitution Center of which Jeb Bush happens to be chairman of the board. So he presented the award and she said Thank You. What an OUTRAGE! (By the way, the video in your link was made by a right-wing group attacking Jeb Bush for associating with Hillary.)

(2,150 posts)as we can all see from the vitriol in these posts... Nothing left for them but addled rants and name calling.... and ignoring the wreck the GOP made of America and all the thing they did which they blame her for doing. Like that email thing...
But for the less astute:
Ms. Clinton made a very smart political move here, and Henry admits it. It one simple move she has fractured the GOP, by getting the support of one of its elder statesmen. She is giving the saner GOPers a reason to vote for her, and the nutcase GOPers (many are here) reasons to throw a hissy fit and attack Kissinger's crowd for palling around with the enemy. She knows effin well that the GOP has an internal civil war going on, and the more she can do to make that war worse and last longer, the more it will help her come election time. and, who knows, maybe by that time the crazies from the GOP will have disgusted enough Repubs where they will vote for her, just to keep a crazy Repub out of the White house.
Now to the diarist - all these loaded words, spin, wildly inflated accusations are doing is making us doubt your sanity. You go to unhinged (see- I love using your techniques on you) lengths to call a simple response to Jeb's thanks for her service,in which she responds in kind (and I call it damning Jeb with faint praise) "Love for Jeb Bush". Let me clue you into something you may have forgotten about, and that is called tact. Or maybe here, Strained politeness.
And as far as "love for Little Bush", W actually did a couple of things that were praiseworthy during his reign, and the AIDS relief programs was one of them. I can't recall the other one, though, but I think it had something to do with falling off a bike or clearing brush.
But a couple more of these rabid anti Hil posts and I am going to suggest the diarists going to the vet for some shots. Or maybe xanax.... You guys are going to have to face facts: right now, there is no one better qualified to be President than Ms. Clinton. The GOP has a clown show and Democrats do not have anyone with the experience she has, domestically and internationally.. Don't forget for a second that she has already battled the GOP for nation health care when Mr. Clinton took office, from almost the day she stepped into the White house. Finally, here's one more thing: she knows how the GOTP and the Koch brothers operate. Maybe she has been talking to President (I love to type that out) Obama, about how to beat them at their own game. But this move she made, getting Kissinger to say that about her, is a stroke of political genius.
OK, now you Hil haters can resume your poo flinging...

(787 posts)You really think that after Obama tried being nice to republicans for 6 of his 8 years before seeming to abandon it recently (of course only after democrats lost the house and senate) and actually try to address issues directly, that what you propose is the brilliant strategy that you assert it to be. However, to me it seems more like who she is and not strategy. She is a neocon-neoliberal and believes in corporate and business solutions.
If you are right and its some strategy, it does not seem like a good idea. Might be better to have someone who is not playing chess and just fighting directly for democratic issues.

He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like, you know, with all the excesses of the 60s and the 70s, and government had grown and grown, but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people just tapped into -- he tapped into what people were already feeling, which was, we want clarity, we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing.
