You just get sick of this crap. We are seeing disintegration of a civil society. The ability to refuse vital services based on conscience is societal anarchy. So if a church get flattened in by a natural disaster it might get help if it is the wrong religion.
I can see it now. Heterosexuals only, Christians only, Jews Only, Moslems Only, LGBT Customers Not Served, et al signs all over the landscape. Questionnaires will appear with all kinds of personal and cultural questions to see if you can be served.

(10,602 posts)You bring up a good point. Based on your OP a loan company with a Christian in it could turn down mortgages for all sorts of reasons. Does not take much to think of so many possibilities. You could even justify genital mutilation, child marriage, and a whole host of rituals based on conscience.

(14,255 posts)Years ago, I took a little truck I was thinking of buying to a local garage with that fish symbol prominently displayed. Doubt they even knew of my atheism, but they gave me a list of about $2900 worth of things to be fixed, on a $3500 truck. Took it to two more places, it only really needed about $500 worth of repair, the rest of the list was bogus. Did not show them the first estimate until after I got their estimates. Truck ran for years. Maybe it was because I am a single woman or something, but - lesson learned. Like putting a hand on a hot stove, I only try some things once. And there are plenty of garages.

(26,355 posts)As an atheist and anti-theist, it is my sincerely held anti-religious belief that I should avoid doing anything to enable religion-based discrimination or religion-based destructive actions to my society.
Therefore, I will not be serving persons if I have evidence to indicate that they are fundamentalist Christians.
