Actress Taraji Henson apologizes to Glendale police for racial profile claims

"Empire” actress Taraji P. Henson apologized for alleging that Glendale police racially profiled her son during a traffic stop after a video obtained by the Los Angeles Times cast doubt about whether police had improperly targeted him..

Just hours after a 40-minute video showing an encounter between Glendale police and Henson's son went viral, the "Empire" actress apologized for accusing officers of racial profiling.

"I would like to publicly apologize to the officer and the Glendale Police Department," she said in an Instagram message with the hashtag #TurningANegativeIntoAPositive #LoveTarajiPHenson. "A mother's job is not easy and neither is a police officer's. Sometimes as humans we overreact without gathering all the facts. As a mother in this case, I overreacted and for that I apologize. Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son."

Never heard of this until this morning, but then, I've never watched "Empire" either.

As a mother of a young black man who is high profile - she did the right thing.

And apologizing after the fact - she did the right thing.

I think we are hyper vigilant right now - understandably so. Whether victims or aggressors we can't trust America with our sons and nephews right now. She did the right thing on BOTH fronts to reach out to her fan base.

Never watched Empire either - but she is a Perry Player and was in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. She has a strong base among black women in her age group.

I truly believe that's the best thing he ever wrote.

I rarely like movies when I love the writer's work - that's one of them. This actress's interactions with a child that looks elderly are adorable. She believes it.

Me too. Any movie made from a good book is always cause for skepticism.

I first saw Taraji Henson and Terrence Howard in the movie Hustle and Flow, and really liked both of them - really good acting in that film. I never realized they are both in Empire.
