Boycott them because of the anti-gay law they just passed, and because "almighty god" is in their constitution, and Pence is a flaming-corporatist republican governor who supports religious hatred.
Here are some products made in Indiana.

It seems they make a lot of furniture, everything on that list is fair to boycott to send Indiana legislators a message.
One product caught my attention, Bar Keeper's Friend. That is a well known stainless steel cleaner, and is used and promoted widely, including among beer brewers. I haven't been able to find any alternatives that are formulated similarly, but it appears to be 5-10% oxalic acid, an acid-based cleaner. Oxalic acid is known as superior for removing iron oxides. Oxalic acid can be purchased in bulk, I bought a lifetime supply of it once :-/.
What looks like a similar product, Bon Ami, is not equivalent, as it is an alkaline cleanser composed of calcium and sodium carbonate mixed with powdered feldspar.
Were I to desire I wanted some Bar Keeper's Friend equivalent, I'd blend 5-10% powdered oxalic acid with some finely ground feldspar.
This is not my website, but they suggest using lime juice and salt as a Bar Keeper's Friend replacement, though salt is not really an abrasive like powdered feldspar, it may work just as well, and salt is reasonably inexpensive.
If you drink or eat out, you might ask those places if they use Bar Keeper's Friend, and if so, share with them the reason for the boycott and what they can use instead.

(9,154 posts)We are taught in school that we have a competitive system, but it doesn't seem like there is a competitor to Bar Keeper's Friend, as what you say about its excellence is the same thing I've read in many places.
I wonder why there isn't an oxalic-acid based cleanser that is a true generic of Bar Keeper's Friend? It seems if we're to have a competitive system, they would need a competitor with a chemically equivalent product. According to Wikipedia, it's been made since 1882, so any patent on the formula should have expired long ago. But there doesn't seem to be a chemically equivalent formula who competes against them, only alternative formulas that don't work quite as well.
This is the kind of lack of competition one would find in corrupt society, where we teach our kids that competition and supply and demand is the basis of our economic system, while the truth is that any competition for the product seems to be faux-competition.
I found myself wondering if just adding oxalic acid to Bon Ami might provide a similar action, but I'm sure there'd also be an acid-base reaction between the carbonates and the acid, so it probably wouldn't work quite the same. And you also have the lack of convenience in needing to make the stuff yourself.

(11,843 posts)It is the best hull cleaner I have found. Removes below the waterline stains like magic. Only problem is commercial cleaning solutions are expensive, I'd rather buy some oxalic acid and make my own. Haven't been able to find a source for it though.
