(23,156 posts)Keep on pounding them, Bernie. They are not for us, don't give a rats ass about workers, women, the environment, education, etc. The ONLY thing that motivates them is increasing the wealth of the 1% and taking the money from us to give to them.

I believe that one of the things that interviewers are taught is to listen to how many words are expended to try to answer a question. Short and precise - say what you want to say and then get out of the way.

(2,741 posts)Unfortunately, most people pay little attention to politics, even when an election is about to happen. Many RWNJs have no idea that the pols they support work very hard against the well-being of the RWNJs.

(55,745 posts)CONSPIRACY & CLASS POWER
This is an in-depth analysis of the modern state and the exercise of power behind the scenes. The speech is also an important historic document. Given in 1993 it issues a warning of the use of deception to justify going to war. The speech also explains the expansion of the deregulated free market that would lead to a financial crisis as we see it today. The speech on Conspiracy and Class Power was lost for several years and only recently discovered in the collection of a listener in Seattle. Michael Parenti spoke before an overflow audience in Berkeley, CA.
Michael Parenti is an internationally known author and lecturer. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Yale in 1962 and is one of the nation's leading progressive political thinkers. His highly informative and entertaining books and talks have reached a wide range of audiences in North America and abroad. His books include Democracy for the Few, Superpatriotism, The Assassination of Julius Caesar, History as Mystery, and Contrary Notions.

(4,775 posts)I have a few Parenti talks on old cassette tapes, I recorded them myself when he spoke in Santa Cruz in the 80's IIRC. Next time I see them I'll check online to see if other recordings of them exist. They would be poor quality audio recorded on a portable machine from the audience, but clear enough to understand. Parenti was (is?) an excellent critic of global capitalism, he really opened my eyes.
At the time I thought (or hoped) he was a little over the top, but now I know he was largely correct in his analyses.
