2,000 workers flee offices in central London after thick black smoke was seen billowing up from manhole cover.



Onlookers reported 'struggling to breathe' and 'chaos' in area as evacuees waited on street and traffic built up.

West End shows including The Lion King and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have been cancelled tonight.



Blaze today caused by 'faulty electrical cables underground', sending smoke into the air - engulfing buildings.
