British journalist was serial killer, says book. But can it be true?

A British journalist lived a double life as a serial killer and died without his crimes ever being revealed, according to a remarkable book just published in Ireland.

The man, described as “an internationally-renowned war correspondent”, is reputed to have been responsible for a string of murders, rapes and tortures.

But his identity has been concealed by the book’s writer, who himself works under a nom de plume. So how can we be sure that Numb: diary of a war correspondent* is not a macabre hoax?

It is supposedly based on computer files and notes found by the journalist’s wife after her husband died, aged 55, last year. She was then put into touch with a ghostwriter, a former Irish lawyer who conceals his own identity by calling himself Louis La Roc (see his website).

according to the claim, he was 55 and died last year. How many British war correspondents died at the age of 55 last year?

That's assuming this is true and I have my doubts.

Major feature article in the Guardian...thought it was of cultural interest.

I was making an oblique and ironic reference to the brouhaha inspired by the pages and pages of speculation and controversy on Andreas Lubitz's mental state...

I am utterly suspicious of this book, which I will call a novel until the author comes forward.

One, because anyone who reads the article is going to Google search "British war correspondent dies at 55," and that name pops up right away...

Because the writer claims to have proof, I can't see publishing this book without either a full author name or at the very least backup from a respected media outlet that has seen and verified the evidence. If there is evidence, one would think the author would be compelled to share because it would close a lot of cold cases and bring closure to a lot of families.

'If there is evidence, one would think the author would be compelled to share because it would close a lot of cold cases and bring closure to a lot of families.'

Surely, law enforcement will look into this and try to close some outstanding files.

Expect some subpoenas and court requisitions any time now.

The book was clearly intended to be about the Clintons, and everyone was trying to figure out who Anonymous was because it had to be someone in their inner circle to know so much...turns out Anonymous was sh*tbag Joe Klein who pretty much made everything up.

I don't know...sometimes things capture the public's consciousness...like 50 Shades of Gray...they can be a trend and then people forget them...also, the author could have a good publicist. I have to admit the plot of the novel is intriguing.
