Poll: Americans Back Iran Deal, Don't Want Congress To Crush It

WASHINGTON -- Americans mostly approve of the outline of the Iran nuclear deal and don't want Congress to block it, according to a poll released Friday.

The survey by Hart Research on behalf of the Democratically aligned Americans United for Change found that 61 percent of the country favor the deal, while 34 percent oppose it.

And perhaps more importantly, 65 percent of voters don't want Congress to block the deal, compared with 30 percent who do.

The poll, done this week of 806 voters, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

65 percent should not be something to ignore

so we need to exercise diplomacy with them. Some of the Rep leaders appear as if the only thing that would make them happy is to bomb Iran. Yeah, sure has worked to resolve problems in Syria and Libya, not to mention Yemen.

do, anyway. They do ignore other polls, though. Or, at most, "triangulate," at least if they don't plan to run again.

If US politicians operated solely on the basis of polls--or other feedback from the hoi polloi-- this country would look very different than it does.

As for the treaty with Iran in particular, my sense is mass media has been supporting it.
