http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018744448The funds came today. We / you/ raised $ 1,097 after paying the fees our project got 1000,00 actually we got 999.90 but I made it an equal grand.
Tomorrow a local fabric store has fleece material 40% off and then teacher's get an additional 15% off. I took a list of the student's favorite colors. tomorrow I am going to spend most of that funds for material. I bought six pair of Fiskar Scissors at 50% off tonight. I am getting excited to get the many awesome colors.
Without all of you, this would still be an idea and not an actual project.
Thank you so much

(31,997 posts)and at first I thought I would have the kids pick one print and one solid, but I think I will just put one of each in a sack and then have the kids pick sacks.
Then they can put it all back when the end of class comes till they get done with it.

(31,997 posts)we start the project on Tuesday. The students still don't know
After sorting it all out I had 3 pieces more of solid and needed some print so I went to a different material store today and they had some really cute clearance bolts and ended up getting it for 60% off but when I rang it out, the cashier gave me another 15 % discount because she loved the project I paid for this set out of my pocket. My contribution 36.00
it ended up costing a little more than I had first estimated so we will only get to do it twice instead of 3 times.
We do it now and then we will do it again in November
I can't thank you all enough.
I am so excited for this and can't wait to see how the students react.

(31,997 posts)The principal is overjoyed and sent an email to the district spokeswoman and marketing department. Next week they plan to interview me and do a story.
I don't want praise, but maybe this will bring awareness of the good things people do at our school and not think of us as just a punitive place.
Oh and the student that inspired all of this to begin with...got first pick of colors
