4. I was just summoned to serve on a jury and I couldn't even get my vote in because

the poster was already PPR'd for their blatantly racist comment that had the words "thugs" but with a descriptive color before it and the sentiment of how they should obey cops to avoid being killed. Their only post too btw.

7. I'm concerned about the word 'thug.'

Because I replied to a pro-union post a couple days back and I alluded to the Pinkerton thugs hired by management in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to violently put down strikers. So...is the word thug bad in all instances, because it did not used to have racial overtones at all?

"Thug" has lately been coopted by right wingers as a dog whistle to their racist compatriots.

But you're right, it has a long history in the context of the struggle for workers' rights.
