Grassroots Campaigning - Any Ideas?

I posted something similar in Politics 2015 - thought I'd post it here as well.

The Maryland primaries are a year away. I've talked to the Donna Edwards campaign staff, and they aren't moving very quickly. So I'm trying to start the ball rolling in a "Deanish" kinda way, by talking her up and finding other supporters for her Senate campaign, people who are progressive, or just want to see a black woman in the Senate, or, better still, a single mom in the Senate. I've explored social media, and that's a start, but a lot of people aren't connected and I'm trying to think of ways to find them.

Any ideas?

We started coffee and cake afternoon meetings and asked people to bring a friend and we took turns. We had to go to the next county dem meetings at 1st but the coffee and cake afternoons grew to now we have regular meetings. Start with a few friends and ask them to bring another friend along and connect with a more organized group for help.

I hope you can keep up the networking as well as the party work. There's real human-power in that.

You will meet folks there from all over your county and might be able to organize some folks that way. They also have connections to your state party.

Silly me, not sure why I didn't think of that!

I went to some websites, and I see that they meet all over the place, so it's just a matter of going, and seeing who is interested.

THANK YOU!

It's how I got started. I've been very active in my county. Just ended my second term as an elected member. I've met some amazing people. Still participate in Registration drives, still make phone calls and go to meet ups. And still drive folks to the polls on election days. It is the best place to get started.

Post on a community websites. Flyers in friendly establishments.

Title it "let's talk about improving our community and state". I think there is a thirst for community, people are isolated on their devices, a chance to disconnect, talk, meet people and have a good time.

I'm embarrassed to say that I know NOTHING about Twitter.

I think I'll leave that to someone more social-media-savvy.
