Joseph Stiglitz on CNBC . . . man, this is TAXING to watch.

A reasoned professor of economics from Columbia University is really, REALLY trying to hold his own regarding income inequality against two reasoned hosts and one supreme wingnut joker in Joe Kernen.

My GOD, just put Joe on Faux already and get it over with.

Professor Stiglitz is offering reasonable and long-term solutions to a complex and long-standing problem - we're not taxing the wealthy enough, there needs to be reasonable regulations and tax regimens for small businesses vs coroporations, interest rates, Fed/Government involvement, etc etc etc

And what is Wingnut Joe doing?

* Joe trots out a long anti-Obama quote from Mr. Trickle Down UBS Bastard Phil Gramm of all people, cited in the Murdoch Street Journal, of course.
* Joe is still trotting out the same discredited right-wing canards of "entitlements", "Highest coroprate tax rate in the world", "stifling regulations", "The middle class of the 50s-70s was an anomaly because the rest of the world couldn't compete like they can now (which means a few of them volunteered to be corporate slavestates to the likes of Neutron Jack Welch)" . . . .
* Joe is still offering false dilemmas of "You want an entire country on the government dole??"
* Joe is STILL blaming Obama Obama Obama Obama even after, what, 60 consecutive months of positive private sector job growth. Fucking TIREsome.

It's amazing, truly, how large of a laughingstock our Fourth Estate is. We cannot even have a serious discussion with a Nobel Laureate regarding long-term concerns without turning it into a over-partisan comedy act.

2. I stopped watching CNBS years ago. 90% of the hosts are R/W ideologues. They even have a tea party

idiot who is on the floor. You are correct about Kernan, he is an ass. Before they were taken over by NBC, they were FNN, and they were fairly good, now they are just another right wing echo chamber, which is another reason I watch Bloomberg. Stieglitz is a good person, but I could have never stood watching him on CNBS.

However, Paul Ryan is coming up on Bloomberg, and I won't be watching that interview

Just a note Stieglitz will be coming up on Bloomberg today, and you should notice the difference in professionalism between Bloomberg hosts and CNBS

. . . work Dish doesn't get BloombergTV, yet we use their apps everywhere. You know, because THAT makes perfect sense.

Usually, this station is on mute, but occasionally I turn it up if they have reasonable people like Stiglitz, Krugman or Jeffery Sachs. Or if Rick Santelli (the Chicago Tea Party kickstarter) argues with Steve Liesman.

Kernen is really dragging that morning show in the mud. Quoting Phil Gramm on anything means reason is tossed out the window and right-wing narratives are the substitute.

5. Dish used to allow you to add Bloomberg for 3 dollars a month without going to a higher tier channel

Probably still not worth the added cost, but they do deal with things in a far more balanced manner.

You are correct, it was Santelli is a major nut case. Linesman is one of the few. They used to have Mark Haines who was a reasonable and balanced, but unfortunately he died several years ago.

The corporate media want it so - they do not want a serious discussion.

right-wing canards...............

They are only discredited if you are sane.

They are only discredited if you are informed.

They are only discredited if you care about this country's future.

They are only discredited if you care about the people in this country.

They are only discredited if you care about the planet.

They are only discredited if you care about humanity at large.

They are only discredited if you care about equality.

They are only discredited if you care about women's rights and health.

In short, they have not been discredited by the Republican party.

This is their platform.

Don't watch main stream media.

It is bad for your health.

Stiglitz's presence helps COMCAST say, "See. We have liberals on-air. We're 'fair.'" Otherwise, someone might notice the stunning similarity of neocon neolib neofeudalist POV between the six members of Corporate McPravda that make up 90-plus percent of what passes for news.

The corporate agenda is to use the power of the airwaves to counter democracy. Thanks to Buy Partisan support, it seems to be working.

Bet the good doctor never got to mention Larry Summers and "What would Goldman think of that?"

Last Friday Michelle Caruso-Cabrera was on Maher and went into an extended soliloquy about something or other that nobody seemed to get or want to try to unravel. Apparently spending all your time hawking Wall Street schemes can have a deleterious effect on the brain.

. . . running off so many factoids (being simple minded makes factoids ideal), half-truths and "Gotcha"s that one couldn't possibly address them all.

Another thing Glass Joe tries to do is use "Elizabeth Warren" as a boogeyman snarl word. Like "Are you part of the Elizabeth Warren wing, who thinks the 1% ought to be abolished?"

It's funny . . . when Joe quoted Phil Gramm, Phil's anti-Obama statement was already prepared in a graphic, even though this is supposed to be in a live morning interview. It's almost like the narrative belching is becoming rehearsed. It just seemed really weird that this quote shitting on the Obama administration was already prepared and ready to use in a discussion about economics and long-term inequality, like out of the blue.

Live guests that have all their talking points prepared on graphics and news clips ready to go ahead of time to really drive home their points. At some point it just becomes propaganda.
