http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/04/23/1379823/-Ted-Cruz-courts-gay-donors-yes-you-read-that-rightThis just blows the mindTexas Sen. Ted Cruz is suddenly courting rich gays in Manhattan. Specifically, he and his wife attended a dinner hosted by two prominent gay business partners and hoteliersMati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner. And here's a taste of what Cruz, who has railed against same-sex marriage, had to say, from reporter Maggie Haberman:
During the gathering, according to two attendees, Mr. Cruz said he would have no problem if one of his daughters was gay. He did not mention his opposition to same-sex marriage, saying only that marriage is an issue that should be left to the states.
Oh, so he's totally cool. I guess the fact that he sent a letter to "tens of thousands of pastors" last month urging them to take a stand against same-sex marriage was just a little slip of the finger.

(1,364 posts)As it should. There are postings on fb of boycotting all their properties. One group that does benefits for the community have canceled because of it. They have a wretched history of sucking up to the Repukes in power. Log Cabinites.

(45,319 posts)Actor's Equity is the Stage Actor's Union. This group raises vast sums and makes grants across the country and internationally as well, for example fundraisers associated with 'The Lion King' have raised a goodly sum for the AIDS fight in South Africa.
"Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nations leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised more than $250 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.
Broadway Cares awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations nationwide and is the major supporter of the social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Womens Health Initiative, the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic, The Dancers Resource and the Stage Managers Project."
They are extremely worthy of support, and anyone who wanted to send a few bucks most certainly could feel wonderful about doing so at this link...
