Obama's ass kicking speech at the Correspondents dinner. He took the Gloves off with this one.

This was more than trying to be funny--- He mocked most excellent.

What's sad is that it's maybe only 50/50 that McCain would get the joke. Gidney N Cloyd Apr 2015 #2

In which the president roasted himself, as well. To show humility and say that he, too, is human. He'd mock others--but almost only his own administration. So * could mock himself, Rice, Cheney, and others that were part of his team. Which is what Clinton, Bush I, Reagan, etc., did. It was a good tradition.

Used to be fairly closed, as well. A chance for high-level execs and the press corps to let down their hair. Sometimes to recognize truths that couldn't easily be expressed at other times.

Now it's changed. It's a chance for the president to try to mock and humiliate others--sort of Comic in Chief still trying to rack up points against political foes. That makes it just another political speech, this time in poor taste.

Time to restore it, discontinue it, or just make it part of an "improv" night in Vegas. Perhaps have opposition leaders show up at times for a similar no-holds-barred approach to mocking and humiliating the president and his team.

to humiliate and degrade this president every single day since he was elected. I have no problem watching the tables turn.

I have some differences with the Prez, but he's probably the wittiest president we've had since JFK.

He mocked himself, he laughed at the laughable. And that last bit about how important journalism is and the sacrifices made this past year --- truly one of his best.

I suppose resisting temptation to laugh at the ridiculousness of republicans all these years has been good practice.
