Media bias is astounding as we only got to hear about violence...

As per a major "news" source..If ya wanna find the News our viewers know how to find it...we're covering "the red carpet".....
Yep, it's gotten that bad.
And then there is MSM's Grand Illusion (Exploit/Exaggerate/Omit/Rinse/Repeat)of any crises.
It would Ruin their Ratings...don't we understand?
"News" and credible journalism isn't the Goal anymore...it's the nuisance Barrier to even Greater ratings!!
And the Irony wasn't missed...as News and Journalism were "honored" a few miles away from a Major and Historical Uprising all of those Highly Respected, Credible, Qualified, Conscientious "News reporters" were at the WHCD......Ignoring the Actual, fer Real News..

(154,021 posts)10,000 people marching, should be a regional story, no other issues, it probably would be. It is highly unlikely you would hear of it beyond the Baltimore region unless you went looking. Why? We have a lot of peaceful marches all the time. Dime a dozen comes to mind. It is definitely a local story. MSNBC keeps mentioning the peaceful morning though.
Once violence starts, it will go regional. Why? Public safety. Once you got full fledged riots, it becomes a national story. I know what I am focusing on today...yes, there are arrests and burned buildings et al. That is truly not the story, and here is where your national media, and some of the locals will likely fall, why?
You got national guard on the streets...guess what? That will be the focus. It makes for good visuals. Though MSNBC is going quite a bit into the why. To their credit.
But in the heat of the moment media will tell people where, as best they can, the danger zones are...not different actually, and just as dangerous for other reasons, if you go behind the lines, as a wild fire. Others outside need to know, as well as those inside the perimeter. Those inside are at great danger and the curfew is nothing short than a shelter in place order.
TV is a visual medium, a lot if what the story is will be dictated by images. It is also cultural and you can blame a Miami station for the if it bleeds it leads, but a broken down street is never as dramatic as a car, axle broken, in that same hole.

(22,845 posts)NBC4 news anchors Jim Vance (who is African American) and Doreen Gentzler (who is white) stayed on the air until 9 pm, with reporters and camera crews and video from a helicopter.
They repeatedly showed scenes of African American men joining together to urge peace and block looting in different locations. They also reported and showed film of a city group called the 300 Men March, which walked en masse into the riot and looting zone in west Baltimore, dispersed the violent ones and urged calm. These men wore black T-shirts emblazoned with th words 300 Men March. Vance and Gentzler repeatedly pointed out that these "grownup, adult men" were joining together to intervene and bring peace to the troubled areas. Frankly the men did a great job. They directed traffic and linked arms in front of stores to stop looting.
NBC4 also showed live helicopter footage of a large group of peaceful protesters walking through the city.
At one point cops pulled up in a huge black armored vehicle at an intersection and began firing what looked like rifles at the crowd. NBC showed one cop firing directly at one of its cameramen and reporters, who got hit with some kind of pepper balls. You could see the flashes from the weapon. Thank heaven these weren't real bullets.
Vance and Gentzler, who are the longest-running news team in the DC area, deserve an award for their outstanding reporting last night.

(6,719 posts)People want to know about the peaceful demonstrators. There is a big story in people wanting to work together. But of course, no blood involved! I feel cheated that I did not know about this. I still watch you. But this very limited coverate of Baltimore makes me wonder why.
