what you will ultimately do for the general, just so there's never ever any doubt in anyone's mind, ever?

The reason why I ask, is because I see that statement made fairly frequently here on du, and it's getting to the point where I almost expect someone to add: "And God Bless America" just to polish it off.

Tue Apr 28, 2015, 05:54 PM
Apr 2015

Call me cynical, but it's my opinion that he is doing this as a purely political move to balance the scales of the 2007-8 Democratic primaries. Still, it does make one wonder where he really stands with the more liberal members of this website. Are we just a nuisance, are we unimportant? We're already treated this way by establishment Democrats, it kind of stings to be treated the same way on DU - and make no mistake, when the owner of the website stakes out a position so clearly this early in the game, it's a slap in the face to the rest of us. If he's playing politics to try and win back (or win over) the Hillary contingent, it's at the expense of the more liberal contingent. If he's just stating a real, deep conviction, it's still inadvisable given that he is the website administrator coming down squarely against a major segment of the site.

Once again, there's a reason my financial contribution decreased last year and went away altogether this year. I'm sure he'll allow what you are asking for, but it's clear that this permission will be given without any real enthusiasm on his part.

I don't dispute the right to post what he wants, just the wisdom. He maintained impartiality in the 2007-8 primaries, thereby showing that he cared about not alienating any particular segment of DU. His many posts in support of HRC this time around indicates that he no longer cares whether or not he alienates the more liberal members. There will be repercussions, for sure. In my case it comes in the form of withdrawn financial support for the website, just as I will not support HRC financially the way I did Obama. Not that she needs my contribution, with her big donors, and apparently neither does DU anymore.

Since his days in the House. He speaks plainly and clearly, and has a real grasp of the issues; and the issues he focuses on are the issues that really matter to real, average Americans in the real world. He also is good at turning the the subject to the real issues in interviews, and getting his message out.

Not a subsection of an existing group whose purpose is only marginally related. Are you having a bad day or something? You seem a tad cranky.

If he's in in it to win it, I'll support him, and doubly so if he is working a plausible strategy.
If he's running with his eye mostly on raising concerns (that go to the heart of our platform) I'll still support him, but it will be different. Or maybe it won't be different, I agree with him so often that it might just feel natural to support anything he gets going.

Hopefully a spam free zone.

On edit. I would not be crazy about a "safe" group. I.E. If someone dare's to mention that Bernie has a hair out of place they are banned. We all know how that works.

Spamming and pointless trolling are easily discerned from political discussion and I would hope Bernie's room will allow polite disagreement.
