How do you feel about helping create jobs for members of this community?

I'm a long-time DUer (please see my journal). Many recall me being very active here, specifically in helping members help one another via Wishadoo. I'm also the one whose work was highlighted on Glenn Beck's Fox News show in 2010, resulting in months of harassment (*waving* to you CC people who I know are reading this, ready to rip into me yet again). I also recently posted about my daughter being in Nepal. I only mention that because I'm still very distracted, not knowing when she will be able to come home, but I wanted to throw this question out there, as a shot in the dark.

(BTW, even though I fear for the safety of my child who is on the other end of the world due to the privilege of being able to take such an extraordinary trip with her dad and who is in harm's way due to a natural disaster, my thoughts are always with parents who fear for the safety of their children and other loved ones who are in harm's way -- beyond fairly universal concerns like car accidents, etc. -- every time they leave their home...if they are fortunate enough to have a home, that is. My thoughts are also with those kids who are in danger in their own homes.)

In years past I have posted about my advocacy for cooperatives, and my plans to structure my projects as owner- and member-owned cooperatives. After exploring impact investing and foundations, I come around to still preferring to raise funds needed to continue in other ways, including crowdfunding and cooperative shareholding. (Yes, I've explored all of this EXTENSIVELY over the last few years.)

I need a solid team in order to move forward, as I became absolutely overwhelmed in trying to run Wishadoo and the other projects on my own and had to put everything on hold. Volunteers can supplement the help, but I still need a solid, reliable team, and I prefer it be people who already "get" what I'm doing and who need a part-time income (homebound caregivers, people on disability, SS, etc). I'm thinking 3 people at $15/hr, working up to 25 hours a week ($19,500/year), with a total fundraising goal of at least $100k.

When I can scale this work, my vision is to create MANY more jobs and generate revenue to do that, but for now I need to raise funds for a small team to help me move forward, and already have a few DUers (and former DUers) in mind to fill these part-time positions, as they've been supportive of this work all along. I also need funds to help me pay for website expenses and continued IT development (mobile apps) and to pay back a few folks who helped, as I've been bootstrapping all of this for EIGHT YEARS, even though I'm a paycheck-to-paycheck person myself.

Would you consider supporting such a fundraiser, as you are able, which creates jobs for a few DUers, perhaps with contributions automatically making you a member of the cooperative, with a voice? I'm simply seeking your feedback and feelings about this right now.

This blog post gives you much more background information about me, my work and where I intend to take it all: http://dena-patrick.blogspot.com/2015/04/i-believe-sharing-our-stories-is.html

My posts of late sink like rocks, but in case people do respond, please be patient with my response time, as I'm constantly fielding calls, texts and emails about my daughter right now.

Thanks.

Probably not for me if it involves any kind of fundraising or sales. I have the manners of television's Columbo (when I'm talking at all), I don't dress as nice, and my car is a lot uglier with more dog hair.

I'm kicking your post.

There are different jobs I can envision, to help support each of the three current integrated projects in varying stages of development. I haven't typed out job descriptions or anything, but it isn't sales. It's support work done from home.

Given the lack of interest shown, I think I have the answer to my OP...lol.

But, in case you or others are truly interested in learning more, I've pasted part of a blog post which speaks to what I have created and need help with in moving forward: First and Foremost, We Must Care

The underlying intention with all of my work -- existing projects and those waiting in the wings – is to catalyze transformation, individual and systemic, toward a caring consciousness, caring communities, and more just, harmonious, sustainable societies via Caregiverism. I have chosen to do this by focusing on the development of these six sectors:

Caring Culture (arts/media) | Caring Democracy | Caring Economy

Caring Ecosystems | Caring Education | Caring Organizations

Even though I only recently assigned this "way of being and doing" a name, I've essentially been creating opportunities to raise awareness of and implement Caregiverism in our daily lives most of my life, certainly throughout my activist-entrepreneur life. Having this more basic yet deeper focus on care as the base to build upon in moving forward provides a clearer road map and blueprint for creating the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible (h/t Charles Eisenstein).

The journey begins with opening to and deepening our capacity to care; with care comes trust; with trust comes compassion and empathy; with compassion and empathy comes justice and healing; with justice and healing comes peace; with peace we are able to create meaningful, sustainable lives and societies.

Currently, Our Good offers the following projects which support the movement toward more caring, sustainable communities and meaningful lives:

* Offering the space to connect and put caring consciousness into action as a community is why Wishadoo!, the Community Good Network was created eight years ago. To connect as individuals and as communities and networks and as a Caring Citizenry. Can you imagine the impact if Facebook, Ebay, Craigslist and other popular platforms were created with these express intentions? Wishadoo is a social network platform which combines all of these features and more, built upon a foundation of respect, integrity and care.

(I need help behind the scenes greeting people as they come to the community -- acting as sherpas of sorts -- especially those who come there because they're in need of assistance of some sort. General community moderation is what I need help with once I relaunch/reopen the site.)

* Offering hope, inspiration and care-based solutions by sharing examples of Caregiverism is why the online Community Good Magazine was created. "Local Good" will be an exemplar for a community-based, community-owned "good news" multimedia enterprise.

(I need help curating and creating content.)

* Providing a truly comprehensive directory where one can find existing avenues of care and assistance, as well as find inspiring projects and ventures which are examples of Caregiverism is why the Community Good Directory was created.

(HUGE project here; will work with university social work departments re: internships to populate and maintain the directory. Need someone to help me coordinate that project.)

All of the above projects exist – I am not speaking in hypotheticals whatsoever. They are global projects, with an initial national focus (US), and each complement one another and are symbiotic. (See video below.) In addition to fostering more caring, compassionate action, they serve the purpose of integrating the many fragments I perceive in my area of work and activism (fragmentation and the resultant inefficiency is something which drives me a bit crazy).

The projects and initiatives are in various stages of development, with Wishadoo! having achieved proof of concept over the last 8 years, through several incarnations.

Other initiatives waiting in the wings under the Our Good umbrella have all been designed to cultivate and support our evolution toward a caring consciousness and Culture of Care.

All projects are currently on hold as I seek a team of support – A Coalition for Good – in moving forward, as I cannot continue to do this on my own. I am currently exploring partnerships and funding opportunities for job creation to support expansion of my vision of Doing Good.
