Kevin Moore filmed the police brutally arresting Freddie Gray. That footage went viral and began all of the protests that have been flooding the streets of Baltimore and sweeping the nation ever since. (15,716 posts)officer. Like the Sheriff of Nottingham. Law enforcement has always been to protect the people at the top (Primary) and enforce the general laws (Secondary). I don't ever see it changing really. Been that way for hundreds of years. In the U.S. during a small segment of time we have a dept of justice that would sometimes so after local and state Law Enforcement Organizations that did not seem to be following the general rules. But that really does not happen any more because that would tend to interfere with the LEO primary obligation.

(15,716 posts)We have progressed some. I think as for as racial issues us in the south have progressed more than the people in the north, but we still have a long way to go. I think that once this little toddler of a nation (only 200 years old) can learn from the adult nations in Europe, we will start going on the right track.

Call the Baltimore Police Department at (410) 545-8122 and demand that they release these innocent men now! Then help us SPREAD THE WORD!

(62,325 posts)Eric Garner. He was held on Riker's Island until the public donated enough money for his bail. Then they refused to take that money claiming they didn't know if it was legitimate. Public outrage finally forced his release.
His attorneys and many members of the public, who witnessed the harassment he claimed after releasing that video, claim the charges were trumped up.
He is currently no longer living in his old home due to fears of more harassment while out on bail.

(63,213 posts)I was hoping for more than a flippant answer.
When it's clear that cops are murdering men and women with no consequences, then it seems unlikely that the machine of justice will rumble into gear to avenge a man held without charge for two hours.
If there is indeed "no need to prove a positive," then tell me how this might be addressed?

(63,213 posts)They will claim that he was arrested on other charges. They will then claim that a mistake was made and that he was released when the error was realized.

(63,213 posts)I can feel my blood pressure rise whenever I talk about it, and this is from some generic mutt who's never had a bad interaction with cops. I simply can't imagine dealing with this bullshit on the front lines, as so many innocent people are forced to endure.
