(33,688 posts)But all those followers of the letter of the law on gays are, I am sure, ready to chow down on a big lobster dinner, eat pizza with milk products and meat tossed together and mix fabrics as well. You can't be part kosher. :evilgin:

(17,200 posts)... but one should point out that it completely invalidates the entire idea of Christianity while it's at it. That's bound to cause trouble.
And the flowchart doesn't even mention cotton/polyester blends.

(17,200 posts)If you are a Christian, but disregard Levitical law, on what basis do you disqualify it? There is nothing in Gospel which overturns Levitical law. Now, you may argue that Levitical Law only applies to Levites, or you might argue that the "completion of the Law" that Mr ben-Joseph did claim means the eradication of Leviticus. Or, more likely, you haven't ever asked the question. But the flow chart says, and it follows quite logically, that if you accept the validity of Levitical Law, you don't get to pick and choose which laws to follow. And Leviticus is quite clear on the status of homosexual relations, although I disremember whether Torah has a precise definition of the state of marriage or not.
A further possibility occurs, that you construe Christian to mean "one who follows Christ" or "One who tries to emulate Christ." But even in that case, you still need to justify on what basis you reject Levitical law.

(15,217 posts)There's a pretty good case to be made that the New Testament revokes the dietary restrictions of the Old Testament: Mark 7:17-23, Acts 10:9-16, 1 Timothy 4:4.
When you try to use bacon and shrimp as "gotchas" it may come across like you don't know what you're talking about.
