So apparently my job interview was at 1:30 instead of 11:30, so I'm waiting in the front of the local market for the manager to be finished with some stuff.(I would have bet anything she said 11:30, but I'm not about to argue).
Anyways, a woman and her child were going through the checkout line when the checker told them they could go pick out some produce. Apparently this store provides a single serving of food (e.g. an apple, pear, orange, etc.) to every kid 12 and under when they come to the store with their parents.
How cool is that?
Update: okay, so the interview went well. Fumbled a question or two, but still answered decently, I thought. Was able to reference lots of my previous job experiences, so that's a plus.
Anyways, get this: full benefits with vision and dental included for $12 a month after 60 days of employment, and it's a union shop!
I'm super excited, fingers crossed that I get the job

(11,833 posts)Free single serving of produce for everyone under 12 accompanied by a parent. Very cool. I hope more stores do that. Great to get kids into fruits & veggies!
Good luck with getting the job. I'm rooting for you!

(2,004 posts)The free fruit for children under 12 is a super idea and very clever marketing campaign. Whoever runs that store is smart, bring in the kids are get them to like your produce. Builds longtime customers, helps kids get a nutritious snack, and makes the families feel like a business care about them. Smart.
I sure hope you get the job!
